The main duties of this position are coordinating conducting maintaining and or facilitating the training records and requirements of the Huntsville Fire Department. The training captain shall also maintain other assigned duties paperwork and emergency and non-emergency responses. Firefighter Duties:</b></p>

<li>Rescues victims from occupancies filled with heat; smoke and toxic gases by entering occupancy and physically removing victims.</li>
<li>Frees victims trapped in automobile accidents; truck accidents; airplane crashes; etc. using a variety of extrication tools.</li>
<li>Advances fire hose lines up stairways; ladders to extinguish fires in upper levels.</li>
<li>Forcefully opens all types of doors and windows to gain entrance to areas involved by fire; using numerous manual and mechanical entry tools.</li>
<li>Advances fire hose lines up stairways; ladders to extinguish fires in upper levels.</li>
<li>Removes fire hose lines from fire apparatus and assists fire apparatus operator in Fire Department pumper connections.</li>
<li>Removes fire debris after fire is extinguished to locate hidden fires and prevent rekindling.</li>

<p><b>Emergency Medical Duties:</b></p>
</li><li>Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation on victims of smoke inhalation; heart attacks; drowning and electrical shock.</li>
<li>Examines victims at accidents to determine extent of injuries and determines which victims will be priority treatment.
</li><li>Performs resuscitation with appropriate equipment.</li>
<li>Preforms treatment necessary to stop and control bleeding; immobilize and prepare patient for transport.
<p><b>Training Captain Duties:</b></p>
</li><li>Develops; implements and evaluates programs related to fire suppression; emergency medical service; hazardous materials; fire prevention and special team training activities.
</li><li>Implements modifications to training programs as required to ensure effectiveness and current technical or procedural compliance.</li>
<li>Evaluates and ensures all training reports are accurate; complete and maintained with applicable state/federal standards and practices.</li>
<li>Ensures all applicable training funds are expended in a manner which follows fire department and City policy. This includes obtaining checks and funding for travel and training and ensuring the funds are returned if needed.</li>
<li>Assists in the management of the department through the development; administration and implementation of departmental policies; rules; regulations; procedures; budget plans; strategic plans and goal setting as directed by the Fire Chief.</li>
<li>Attends schools; conferences and other meetings to keep abreast of current trends in the field; represents the department in a variety of local; regional; county; state and other organizations and committees.</li>
<li>Manages school attendance; budget expenditures and purchases related to training.
</li><li>May attend additional training and obtain certifications or levels of competency as directed by the Fire Chief.</li>
<li><p>Assists in scheduling fire department training, and fire prevention.</p></li>
<li>Assists with fire prevention program for selected area schools and to the public.</li>
<li>Assists in managing Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) mandated documents in a manner that allows for State inspection compliance as required.</li>
<li>Maintains all training records for full-time and volunteer personnel in an organized and compliant manner.</li>
<li>Openly and willingly communicates with all staff on their personal training records and plans for advancement.</li>
<li>The Training Captain may be required; at times; to facilitate TCFP skills testing on request for individuals who may or may not be employed with the Huntsville Fire Department.</li>
<li><p>The Training Captain will manage conduct and/or participate in the phase training and/or testing, the phase testing process for new employees, will verify compliance and the ability to successfully complete and pass the phase testing process.</p></li>
<li>The Training Coordinator may be asked to change work schedules from time to time to allow for weekend management of training activities and/or facilitate training opportunities for the volunteer firefighters.
<p><b>Non-Emergency Duties:</b></p>
</li><li>Assists in cleaning and maintaining apparatus quarters; building; equipment; grounds and other related work as assigned and/or required.</li>
<li>Preplans fires in occupancies to record information pertaining to location of fire hydrants; exposure hazards; life hazards; etc.</li>
<li>Provides fire prevention and public fire safety education programs as necessary.</li>
<li>Demonstrates firefighting tools; equipment and emergency medical equipment in quarters to groups visiting stations when assigned.</li>
<li>Gathers information for fire department grant proposals.</li>
<li>Performs fire investigations and inspections; as assigned and/or required.
<p><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</b></p>
<p><b>Education and Experience:</b></p>
</li><li>High School diploma or equivalent.</li>
<li>Experience in emergency medical care and firefighting.</li>
<li>Two years of firefighting experience.</li>
<li>Must be able to respond to emergency calls within thirty (30) minutes.
<p><b>Required Licenses or Certifications:</b></p>
</li><li>Valid Texas driver&rsquo;s license and acceptable driving record.</li>
<li>Must have a valid Class &ldquo;B&rdquo; Texas driver&rsquo;s license.</li>
<li>Certified EMT in the State of Texas is required.</li>
<li>Texas Commission on Fire Protection Structural Firefighter Instructor III is required to be obtained (timeframe to obtain this certification will be discussed during the hiring process depending upon level hired at); if hired without.</li>

<p></p><div><p>Twelve months of wildland fire fighting or forestry field experience, of which at least six months was at the developmental level. The required developmental experience is met by service as a Wildland Fire and Resource Technician 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.<br>

Red Card qualification under the National Incident Qualification System (see required job qualifications special note).</p><p>
Substitution:<br>
Completed coursework from an accredited college or vocational technical school in forestry, fire science, or a closely related field may substitute for the six months of general field experience. (For college 3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of work experience. Transcripts or a letter from a vocational technical school must indicate a college credit equivalency for the completed coursework. For example, at Alaska Vocational Technical Center: Forest Ecology = 3 semester credits; Forest Regeneration = 2 semester credits; Timber Harvesting and Sale Administration = 4 semester credits; and Wildland Fire Management = 3 semester credits.)</p><p>
There is no substitution for the six months of developmental experience.<br>
There is no substitution for the National Incident Qualification System (Red Card) qualifications.<br>

Most positions require National Incident Qualification System certifications. The OCR Clinical Research Incubation unit provides expertise, infrastructure, staff onboarding, staff training, project management, and staff management for research units in the growth and maintenance stages.<br>

The Clinical Research Coordinator 2 (CRC2) is a specialized research professional working with and under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-investigator(s), and other study personnel to follow the clinical protocol. While the Principal Investigator is primarily responsible for the overall design, conduct, and management of clinical trials, the CRC 2 is delegated to perform study related tasks across the life cycle of the study. The CRC2 plays a critical role in the conduct of the studies to ensure compliance with federal and institutional regulations. This position is housed within the Clinical Research Incubation Unit but will work directly with investigators in one or more clinical departments or specialties. The CRC 2 acts as a key communicator, project manager, and clinical research conduct knowledge partner alongside the investigator, sponsor, and institution to support compliance, financial, personnel and other related aspects of the clinical studies.<p></p><p><b>
