<div><p>Forsyth County Department of Emergency Services is seeking hard working and dedicated Fire Engineers. Fire Engineers receive and respond to fire alarms, technical rescues, medical calls and emergency/accidents. The employee may drive firefighting and rescue equipment and operates such equipment at the scene of a fire or emergency call with technician level proficiency depending on the assignment within the Fire Division. This employee must execute orders of their supervisor and on scene incident command staff promptly and efficiently and may be required to assume those roles in absence of higher levels of supervision or command. This employee is also responsible for the day-to-day operations and personnel assigned to their station or unit. Independent judgment and initiative are required in fighting fires and emergency rescues. Fire Engineers will also perform yearly fire prevention inspections, as well as conduct fire origin and cause investigations. Assumes command of day to day and incident operations of a company or shift in the absence of the Fire Captain.<br>

<div><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</b></div>
<ul><li>Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.</li>
<li>Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.</li>
<li>Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver&rsquo;s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.</li>
<li>Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Act.</li>
</ul><div><b>MAJOR DUTIES</b></div>
<ul><li>Responds to fire alarms, traffic accidents, medical emergencies, rescue calls, and other emergencies as a member of a fire and rescue team.</li>
<li>Selects hose nozzle, depending on type of fire, and directs stream of water or chemicals into fire.</li>
<li>Positions and climbs ladders to gain access to upper levels of buildings to rescue individuals from burning buildings.</li>
<li>Drives apparatus and equipment to and fire scenes.</li>
<li>Creates openings in buildings for ventilation or entrance.</li>
<li>Searches buildings and rescues victims from structures and vehicles.</li>
<li>Protects property from water and smoke by use of waterproof salvage covers, smoke ejectors, and other equipment.</li>
<li>Provides first responder emergency medical care including basic first aid and CPR to injured persons and those overcome by fire and smoke.</li>
<li>Assists EMS personnel and other qualified staff in advanced life support emergency medical care; transports EMS personnel to the hospital as required.</li>
<li>Tests and maintains power tools and equipment.</li>
<li>Communicates with supervisor and other Firefighters during emergency calls by portable two-way radio and other communication devices.</li>
<li>Rescues individuals and animals from situations in which they are physically trapped.</li>
<li>Contains, controls and decontaminates hazardous materials spills as certified.</li>
<li>Performs a variety of salvage and clean-up operations, including removing water, chemicals and debris as certified.</li>
<li>Supports inspections of buildings for fire hazards and compliance with fire prevention ordinances.</li>
<li>Makes presentations on fire safety, burn prevention and fire prevention to schools and community groups.</li>
<li>Maintains apparatus, quarters, buildings, equipment, grounds and hydrants.</li>
