The Fire Sprinkler Designer will design and prepare layout drawings for fire sprinkler systems in commercial, industrial and/or residential settings. Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Apply fire protection codes and standards to the design of fire sprinkler systems, water supplies, pumps, standpipes, foam systems, and water storage tanks.</li><li>
Read and interpret Architectural, Structural, and MEP blueprints/PDF&rsquo;s, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.</li><li>
Perform preliminary and advanced work in development of working layouts and final master drawings.</li><li>
Confer with engineers/consultants or other personnel to layout a code-compliant fire sprinkler system.</li><li>
Coordinate and monitor aspects of production, including fabrication, installation issues, and inspection comments.</li><li>
Design automatic fire sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, fire pumps, and underground systems</li><li>
Perform and analyze hydraulic calculations, plot plans, and stock-list/fabricate material for the job site.</li><li>
Assist with the preparation of proposal documents, technical data such as test procedures, reports, maintenance manuals, etc.</li><li>
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes (NFPA, local/state fire codes, building codes).</li><li>
Required to provide information to supervisors and co-workers by telephone, in written form, email, and/or in person.</li><li>
Analyze information and evaluate the results to solve problems and choose cost effective and material efficient solutions.</li><li>
Walk sites for site surveys where there may be long periods of standing as well as climbing and descending of ladders/steps</li><li>

Education/Qualifications:<ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate&rsquo;s or Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in engineering, drafting or related field is preferred.</li><li>
3+ years of experience in fire sprinkler design and AutoCad.</li><li>
Experience using Microsoft Office and computer aided design (CAD) software &mdash; Autodesk</li><li>
AutoCAD; Autodesk Revit; Autodesk Navisworks; AutoSPRINK, BIM 360.</li><li>
Basic understanding of mathematics and physics, relevant to design and hydraulics.</li><li>
NICET certification (Level II or higher) in Water-Based Systems Layout is preferred.</li></ul>

Job Description Summary

JOB SUMMARY:

The Fire Sprinkler Designer position is responsible for operating with minimal supervision while completing project designs and submittals. Expected to be very familiar with SFP&rsquo;s quality documents, procedures, and work instructions as they related to the design function.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
<ul>
<li>Design automatic sprinkler systems including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems using working knowledge of fire sprinkler codes.</li>
<li>Perform hydraulic calculations for each design.</li>
<li>Prepare submittal packages to send to (AHJ) Authority Having Jurisdiction and subsequent correspondence to achieve design approval.</li>
<li>Participate in coordination meetings with contractor.</li>
<li>Participate in design kick off meetings.</li>
<li>With assistance from the Design Manager, a Senior Sprinkler Designer, or others, prepare fabrication lists for pipe fabrication vendor and requisition materials for job.</li>
<li>With assistance from the Design Manager, a Senior Sprinkler Designer, or others, perform field surveys to ensure design is appropriate for structure.</li>
<li>Assist field personnel with design related installation issues.</li>
<li>Prepare and submit final job close-out documents after final acceptance testing.</li>
<li>Understand and follow SFP&rsquo;s Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Employee must know where all related safety documentation is at all times on each project.</li>
<li>Periodically attend seminars or similar education/training sessions to stay abreast of latest technology, codes, and standards changes.</li>
<li>Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner.</li>

QUALIFICATIONS

Position Summary: 
Impact Fire Services is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to create designs, submittals, and permit drawings for local upfits, tenant improvements and new construction. <div>Summary
Responsible for designing fire protection systems for industrial, commercial and residential applications, completing project designs and submittals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.<ul><li>
Design fire protection sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems, with accuracy and detail to enable field installation with few design errors.</li><li>
Submit design plans to proper department leadership for approval and obtain permits as required.</li><li>
Calculate figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production.</li><li>
Design fire protection sprinkler systems within allocated hours for each job.</li><li>
Review work order and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions of design.</li><li>
Prepare submittal packages and subsequent correspondence to achieve design approval.</li><li>
Prepare fabrication lists for pipe fabrication vendor and requisition materials for job.</li><li>
Perform field surveys to ensure design is appropriate for structure.</li><li>
Assist field personnel with design related installation issues.</li><li>
Prepare and submit final job close-out documents after final acceptance testing.</li></ul>
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. NICET Certification a plus.
Computer Skills
SprinkCad preferred, AutoCad, or HydroCAD, Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
