How will you contribute?
Ahern has an exciting opportunity for a Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice to join the Sprinkler Fitter Apprenticeship program working for our Des Moines, Iowa location. This is a 5-year apprenticeship program working side-by-side with a journeymen sprinkler fitter installing automatic fire protection systems. Your employment relationship will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement. Apprentices will complete on-the-job training and a 5-year correspondence course toward becoming a journeyman sprinkler fitter. 
How will you qualify?
Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years old, have a High School Diploma or equivalent, have a valid driver&rsquo;s license along with a clean driving record to operate company vehicles, and pass an appropriate drug screen and physical (the job entails a great deal of lifting and climbing). Successful candidates must be self-starters, have a strong mechanical background, have a good working and learning attitude, and be able to work in a fast-paced construction environment.

This role is responsible for producing accurate design documents that clearly communicate system scope and requirements to installation personnel. This individual will design and coordinate the fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. He or she will design and create the finished representation for the sprinkler systems using drawing and drafting skills and tools.
