NTN scores are valid one year from your test date. NTN registration will be invitation-only. Detailed information and instructions to register with NTN will only be sent to the qualified applicants by May 22, 2026. If you need to take the FireTeam Test with NTN, please schedule the exam as soon as you receive your invitation to test. Spots are limited and it must be scheduled ahead of time.
 
 
Note: The Chandler Fire Department is not currently offering the CPAT exam. Candidates are encouraged to take the CPAT or prep-courses at other organizations like Maricopa Community Colleges or the National Testing Network .
 
 
The position available is a full-time position and is subject to a twelve (12) month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for up to two (2) years or at the discretion of the Fire Chief.
 
 
The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment drug/alcohol test, motor vehicle record check, medical evaluation, and a background check on the successful candidates. A final offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results.
 
 
The City of Chandler fingerprints all applicants selected for hire to evaluate the fitness of prospective employees. The examination process may vary if determined necessary.
 
 
* Arizona does not have reciprocal agreements with any other states for Emergency Medical Care Technician (EMCT) Certifications; therefore, other state level certifications cannot be transferred to Arizona. The firefighter, as a crew member, will follow the leadership of the department in all the orders and written policies and procedures and all other written orders.Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>The firefighter maintains a high standard of safety and work performance in the execution of their duties. This will include maintaining safe work practices and compliance with company, client, airport, and government agency policies, rules, standards and regulations, communication any deficiencies and recommendations for correction to the Station Captain and/or Fire Chief.</li><li>Complete all assigned daily duties as directed by the Shift Captain and/or Fire Chief.</li><li>Driver Operator of ARFF apparatus as a Firefighter.</li><li>Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Shift Captain/Fire Chief, as the scope of the client services requires or broadens.</li></ul>Skills and Abilities:<ul><li>Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups using good oral, written, and listening skills.</li><li>Ability to carry out oral and written directions.</li><li>Ability to prepare reports on the handling of routine or emergency duties.</li><li>Ability to exercise sound judgment in determining the appropriate action to be taken relation to job responsibilities.</li><li>Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all clients, tenant organizations and airport employees.</li><li>Must demonstrate good character appropriate to the requirements of the job.</li><li>Must present an appearance consistent with other employee appearance standards.</li><li>Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all co-workers/employees and Airport Administration.</li><li>A thorough understanding of and demonstrated experience in NIMS and ICS Incident Command Systems.</li><li>Working knowledge and proficiency in the operation of computer equipment and software programs used by the department, to include Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word and Excel.</li></ul>Education:<ul><li>High School Diploma or equivalent</li><li>College Degree (preferred)</li></ul>Certifications &amp; Licenses (Required):<ul><li>IFSAC, Pro-Board, State of New Mexico, or DOD Firefighter I &amp; II</li><li>ICS 100, 200, 700, &amp; 800</li><li>CPR and EMR</li></ul>Certifications &amp; Licenses (Preferred):<ul><li>IFSAC, Pro-Board, State of New Mexico, or DOD ARFF Firefighter</li><li>IFSAC, Pro-Board, State of New Mexico, or DOD ARFF Driver/Operator</li><li>IFSAC, Pro-Board, State of New Mexico, or DOD Hazmat Awareness &amp; Operations</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>FF experience with an emphasis on ARFF.
