<div><div>Under direction of the Fire Lieutenant or above, the Vallen Firefighter will perform a wide variety of administrative and technical tasks and functions in support of fire suppression, fire prevention, hazardous materials, emergency medical and other emergency services. Firefighters will inspect, test, provide maintenance and repairs to Life Safety Equipment to include fire extinguishers, hoses, monitors, respirators (SCBA), etc. Vallen Firefighters will also provide appropriate documentation ensuring accurate testing and repair.</div>
<div></div><div><b>Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:</b></div>
<ul><li>Respond to emergency and non-emergency incidents; provide appropriate services as required including emergency rescue and fire suppression; perform search and rescue for trapped or injured persons; perform emergency medical and first aid services as needed; prepare reports regarding emergency incidents as assigned.</li>
<li>Participate in a variety of fire prevention operations, activities and programs including training, fire investigations; equipment operation and maintenance; participate in activities in response to natural disasters, incidents involving hazardous materials, and other emergency situations.</li>
<li>Identifies, isolates, and contains hazardous materials in a safe and effective manner</li>
<li>Participate in cleaning and maintaining fire station, equipment, and apparatus; ensure that appropriate conditions are maintained; ensure that all equipment and apparatus are in a constant state of readiness.</li>
<li>Respond to a variety of hazardous materials incidents.</li>
<li>Perform Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of emergency response equipment as well as installed life safety systems in accordance with Vallen and Customer SOP's.</li>
<li>Maintain emergency vehicle equipment logs.</li>
<li>Maintain and track EMS supplies and inventory.</li>
<li>Report inventory supply levels to the Fire Lieutenant</li>

<div>High School or GED required; Bachelor's in related field of study preferred or 6+ years of applicable direct experience and 5+ current certifications (manufacturer/state) in fire protection and/or related field. Applicable experience should include:</div>

While performing the duties of this classification, incumbents work under exposure to the hazards associated with fires and hazardous chemicals. Incumbents work outdoors in varying terrain. Incumbents may be exposed to all kinds of weather and environmental and biological hazards (e.g. smoke, diesel fumes, ticks, snags, etc.). Incumbents may work in isolated areas for considerable lengths of time, including in enclosed spaces up to 100 feet in the air (i.e. fire towers). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be noisy. Incumbents may be required to work at emergency incidents for extended hours, nights, weekends or holidays and may be subject to on-call status. Incumbents may be required to travel and may be exposed to traffic and other roadway or travel-related hazards.</div><div><b><br>

While performing the duties of the classification, incumbents are required to climb a ladder of up to 35 feet and climb open stairways of up to 100 feet. Incumbents are required to perform physically demanding work with hand tools, power tools and saws, and brush cutting power equipment. Incumbents are required to be able to walk a distance of two miles while carrying a pack of 25 pounds. Incumbents may be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to 100 pounds with or without assistance and with or without the use of devices and/or equipment to assist in the lifting effort. Work assignments may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation to a known disability.</p><div><br>
