</li></ul><p>This position is responsible for diagnosing and correcting mechanical problems on a wide variety of Town vehicles and equipment while performing preventive maintenance procedures. The Fleet Mechanic also supports parts inventory management and may assist with maintaining the stockroom of vehicle and equipment parts.</p><p></p><p><b><br>
Essential Duties and Responsibilities</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Maintain and repair a wide range of Town vehicles and heavy equipment including backhoes, tractors, dump trucks, bulldozers, motor graders, street sweepers, police cruisers, fire engines, cars, trucks, and mowing equipment</li>
<li>Perform repairs on emergency vehicles including engines, electrical systems, brakes, lights, sirens, radios, water pumps, and climate control systems</li>
<li>Conduct preventive maintenance such as tune-ups, oil and filter changes, brake repairs, drivetrain inspections, and heating/air conditioning repairs</li>
<li>Diagnose mechanical problems using both manual and computerized testing equipment</li>
<li>Perform corrective maintenance on engine, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, brake, steering, and air systems</li>
<li>Weld and fabricate parts and modify equipment as needed</li>
<li>Perform auto body repairs and painting when required</li>
<li>Respond to service calls and perform field repairs during and after normal work hours</li>
<li>Assist with snow removal operations when necessary</li>
<li>Perform small engine repairs and maintenance</li>
<li>Conduct statutory inspections required by the State of New Hampshire</li>
<li>Maintain detailed maintenance records including work performed and parts inventory</li>
