Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Manage and supervise housekeeping, laundry, and floor care staff, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and federal/state requirements.</li><li>
Perform and lead teams in light housekeeping, heavy housekeeping, and laundry aide duties across varying shifts.</li><li>
Lead staff training, quality control, and in-service sessions; ensure timely completion of projects and programs.</li><li>
Maintain records of income, expenditures, supplies, personnel, and equipment while using HCSG computer software.</li><li>
Act as liaison between building occupants/administrators and HCSG staff; communicate directives effectively.</li><li>
Use protective gear appropriately; ensure safe use of cleaning solutions and adherence to safety precautions.</li><li>
Maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and timely completion of tasks.</li><li>
Represent HCSG positively through courteous interactions with supervisors, co-workers, client staff, residents, and guests.</li><li>

Qualifications:

Position Title: Evening Custodian & Floor Technician

Position Summary
 Evening Custodian & Floor Technicians are skilled professionals dedicated to maintaining the integrity, safety, and appearance of flooring throughout the Science Center while supporting general custodial operations. This role combines technical expertise with precision and physical stamina to deliver exceptional results in high-traffic, public-facing spaces. Specialists operate advanced floor care equipment, including ride-on scrubbers, buffers, and robotic systems and apply specialized techniques such as waxing and buffing to preserve surfaces and enhance guest experience. In addition to floor care, this position performs routine custodial tasks such as cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, and ensuring a clean and welcoming environment. Candidates should be eager to learn, committed to mastering specialized skills through hands-on training, and passionate about contributing to a safe, visually appealing facility. By maintaining both floors and overall cleanliness, this position plays a critical role in supporting the Science Center’s mission and operational excellence. This position is eligible for the evening shift premium of $1.00
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
 Floor Care (Approx. 60%)
 <ul>
<li>Operate heavy-duty floor care equipment, including ride-on scrubbers, buffers, and extractors after provided training.</li>
<li>Perform specialized floor maintenance under supervision initially, progressing to independent work as skills develop such as stripping, waxing, and buffing to maintain high standards of appearance and safety.</li>
<li>Conduct scheduled floor care projects in exhibit halls, theaters, and back-of-house areas.</li>
<li>Inspect and maintain floor care equipment, performing minor troubleshooting and reporting major repairs.</li>
<li>Handle cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with established protocols.</li>
<li>Assist with large-scale cleaning projects and seasonal deep cleans.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate records of floor care activities and equipment maintenance.</li>
<li>Collaborate with custodial team to ensure seamless operations and prioritize floor safety.</li>
<li>Program, start, and shut down robotic vacuum equipment, including training team members on proper operation and maintenance.</li>

4th Floor Surgical/Orthopedics/Joint Center Description
UNC Johnston Fourth floor Surgical unit is a 33 private bed postoperative unit. We have a Joint Center on one of our wings for our Total Joint Patients. Fourth floor is a fast past unit that provides care to postoperative patients that have had Total Joint and other Orthopedic, Urology, Gynecology, General and Vascular surgical surgeries. It is a great unit to gain experience in Chest tubes, Colostomies, NG Tubes, Wound Vacs, and post-surgical care and for new nurses to gain a foundation to grow in their career. The 4th floor Leadership team is focused on Teamwork and positive co-worker recognition for staff as well as recognition from patient and family feedback.
Responsibilities: 
1. Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. With assistance, uses patient education materials relevant to patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers. Assesses developmental level of patient and factors affecting ability to learn. 
2. Evaluation of Care - Identifies expected patient outcomes. Seeks guidance as needed in revision of plan of care. Participates in discussion with members of the interdisciplinary team in evaluation of patient care. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. 
3. Implementation - Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational and safety aspects of care.
