Suppress fires at the direction of the Incident Supervisor, through the use of standard firefighting techniques by using such equipment as fire engines, fire extinguishers, emergency generators, radio equipment, air packs, safety equipment, gas masks, protective clothing and patrol vehicles.</li></ul><div>

Train fire agency staff and other agency fire personnel in the methods and techniques of fire prevention and control. Update fire and safety posters to promote public awareness of fire safety.</li></ul><div>

Calculate the daily fire ratings, using the National Fire Danger Rating System Guidelines, by calculating indices of the fire weather system using remote automated weather stations, facility weather stations, field calculations and information provided by the National Weather Services. While performing the duties of this classification, incumbents work under exposure to the hazards associated with fires and hazardous chemicals. Incumbents work outdoors in varying terrain. Incumbents may be exposed to all kinds of weather and environmental and biological hazards (e.g. smoke, diesel fumes, ticks, snags, etc.). Incumbents may work in isolated areas for considerable lengths of time, including in enclosed spaces up to 100 feet in the air (i.e. fire towers). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be noisy. Incumbents may be required to work at emergency incidents for extended hours, nights, weekends or holidays and may be subject to on-call status. Incumbents may be required to travel and may be exposed to traffic and other roadway or travel-related hazards.</div><div><b><br>

The Resource Specialist provides support to District Operations to ensure all programs offered by the agency are administered within the District.</p><div><b><br>
Responsibilities:</b><br>
<ul><li>Supports District Forester with delivery of Field Operation programs. Tasks may include: preparation of tract and stand maps, collecting property and stand data, direct interaction with clientele, drafting of management plans, capacity building, conservation education, fire prevention and special projects. Serve as a wildland firefighter and/or emergency responder on a statewide basis. Duties will include operation of heavy firefighting equipment, use of hand firefighting tools and perform ground reconnaissance on wildfires.</li></ul></div><div><ul><li><br>
Employee must manage and account for assigned credit cards, vehicles, and equipment. <div><p>The City of Lake Forest is seeking a creative and motivated college student majoring in English, Communications, or a related field to join our team as a Communications Intern. This position will work primarily out of the Public Safety Building and will focus heavily on supporting Police and Fire communications. The intern will gain hands-on experience in municipal communications while helping tell the story of Lake Forest&rsquo;s public safety professionals and contributing to projects that enhance community engagement and promote City initiatives.</p></div><br>

<p></p><div><ul><li>Assist in writing and editing social media posts, newsletters, and website content, with an emphasis on Police and Fire Department communications.</li><li>Develop and schedule social media content and campaigns across platforms to highlight public safety initiatives, community outreach, and day-to-day department work.</li><li>Help showcase the work of first responders through engaging storytelling, interviews, and behind-the-scenes features.</li><li>Take photos and create videos for use on social media, the website, and other City communication channels, especially related to Police and Fire operations, training, and events.</li><li>Write journalistic stories for the City&rsquo;s Lake Forest Love blog by conducting interviews and collaborating with staff, including public safety personnel.</li><li>Conduct research to support marketing and outreach initiatives, particularly those related to community safety and engagement.</li><li>Collaborate with City staff to develop content that aligns with brand standards and community goals.</li><li>Assist with daily administrative and communications support duties.</li></ul></div><p></p>
