</div><ul><li>This position is responsible for the strategic oversight and safety management of all aviation operations on a National Forest.</li>
<li>Maintains close liaison with other aviation managers, Forest Fire Management Officer, Deputy Forest FMO, Interagency Dispatch Center Manager, and Dispatch Coordinator to exchange information on current aviation operations.</li>
<li>Advises project planners on utilization and suitability of aircraft needed for fire suppression and aviation projects.</li>
<li>Represents Forest Aviation at Forest, Regional, National training, workshops, task groups, and meetings.</li>
<li>Coordinates with Regional aviation management on Forest aviation operations, technical guidance, special projects for aviation support personnel, and other aviation related aspects.</li>
<li>Serves as the primary aviation operations advisor to the Forest Supervisor or Incident Commander during project fires, or other projects that may involve aircraft.</li>
<li>May be the designated Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for the Forest's aviation contracts.</li></ul></div>

Performs wildland fire protection duties and supervises wildland fire suppression team.</b></div><ul><li>
Responds to calls to prevent crime and enforce laws. Protects states' natural resources. Performs and conducts forestry law enforcement. Investigates wildland fires to determine cause and damages.</li><li>
Performs wildland fire prevention work. Performs wildland fire control planning and directs fire suppression activities. Ensures that preventive maintenance goals are met.</li><li>
Recruits, trains and supervises a fire suppression team. Ensures the Employee Performance Management System (EPMS) planning stages and evaluations are completed within the agency's policy/procedures.</li><li><div>
Performs administrative duties to include review of monthly forest fire activity reports. Assists agency foresters in the preparation and implementation of forest management plans, reforestation, or other landowner services. Coordinates the provision of services for fee to landowners within the sector. Provides technical assistance to local governments on forestry issues. Stays current of state and local affairs affecting forestry. Works cooperatively with local governments to promote forestry and sound forestry practices. Participates in allied forestry organizations' activities.</div></li><li>

<p></p><div><ul><li>A High School diploma and two years' experience in forest fire control, forestry management, or law enforcement.</li><li>
Must pass the initial physical fitness test of walking two (2) miles in 30 minutes carrying a 25 lb. pack or meet the agency's physical fitness program requirements.</li><li>
Must obtain firefighter registration with the Office of State Fire Marshal.</li><li>
Criminal background check required. Drug and alcohol test required.</li><li>
Position requires a Class A Commercial Driver&rsquo;s License (CDL). Must have Commercial Learners Permit (CLP) prior to employment. Must complete CDL Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) Theory training within 15 working days of hire then obtain a Commercial Driver's License within 90 working days. To obtain your Commercial Learner&rsquo;s Permit, you must take the official written test at any SCDMV branch. <p>Role Overview</p><p>We are seeking dedicated and courageous individual to join our team as Firefighter / Compliance Officer. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community by responding to emergencies, conducting fire prevention activities, and supporting various community programs. <br>The New Mexico Forestry Division retains lead responsibility for wildland fire management on all non-federal, non-tribal, and non-municipal lands, maintaining fire suppression capacities and emphasizing public and firefighters' safety. The Forestry Division promotes healthy, sustainable forests and watersheds in New Mexico for the benefit of current and future generations.

This position is responsible for oversight of the district's wildland fire emergency hire staff and
<br>ensuring wildland fire engines and associated equipment, tools, and gear in proper working
<br>condition and ready and available for emergency wildland fire response at a moment's notice.
<br>The position will also assist the District Fire Management Officer implement education and
<br>outreach programs across the district which include FireWise, Ready, Set, Go, defensible
<br>space and the Smokey Bear Wildland Prevention campaign. Further they may assist the
<br>District Forester with Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). The duties include communicating and
<br>coordination with private landowners, cooperators, partner agencies, and stake holders while
<br>maintaining a safe work environment during fire suppression activities and assist in resolving
<br>disputes between suppression resources and private forest landowners. All of this is done
<br>while assuring that the Division stays in compliance with the applicable State Laws and
<br>Regulations.

<br>wildland fire training and education for district emergency staff and as applicable, providing
<br>technical assistance to landowners, tribes, local government and state and federal land
<br>managers with wildland fire training education, outreach and coordination of suppression
<br>resources during wildland fire response.

Primary customers are private forest land owners, cooperating natural resource agencies,
<br>local governments, tribal nations, and non-federal forest landowners.

<br>Minimum Qualification
<br><br>
High school education or equivalent and two (2) seasons as a Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) and NWCG qualifications for Crew Boss (CRWB), Engine Boss (ENGB), or Felling Boss (FELB) or other Single Resource and Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5), as specified in PMS 310-1. (Season means a total of 90 days of fire response experience within a calendar year).

<br>Working Conditions
<br><br>
Work is preformed both in office and field setting. Employee may be exposed to inclement
<br>weather conditions and required to walk in steep rugged terrain. Employee may be
<br>exposed to excessive noise from power equipment and fire suppression apparatus for long
<br>periods. Employee may be required to work with supervised minimum-security inmates.
<br>May be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Requires driver's license and
<br>Defensive Driving Certificate.
