DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES</div><div></div><div> 
As an FPGA Engineer you will develop next-generation SDR communication payloads for future scientific missions, including deep-space, lunar, and Mars communication systems. In this role in our California team, you will report to the Principal Embedded Systems Engineer. This position involves a wide range of activities including high-speed board designs that push the limits of technology, designing and implementing test and characterization circuits in the lab, and debugging complicated system level problems. You&rsquo;ll work closely with designers from many groups within Apple and be a key contributor to the silicon engineering effort.

. Developing specifications based on requirements from cross-functional teams 
 
<ul><li>Schematic capture, circuit design, definition of layout and routing constraints, design review and simulation</li></ul> 
<ul><li>FPGA and CPLD development</li></ul> 
<ul><li>Board bring-up, testing and characterization, and debug</li></ul> 
<ul><li>Power and signal integrity analysis</li></ul> 
<ul><li>High-speed interface design and characterization</li></ul> 
<ul><li>Debug a wide range of issues on test boards and production systems</li></ul> 

Preferred Qualifications 
 
Experience with schematic level board design 
 
Understanding board bringup and debug strategies 
 
Strong fundamentals in EE concepts; transistor operation, signal integrity and transmission lines, timing analysis, digital logic 
 
RTL experience using Verilog or VHDL. Preferably FPGA design experience 
 
Proficiency with standard hardware lab equipment including scopes, logic and spectrum analyzers, signal generators, eLoads and protocol analyzers. 
 
Test automation expertise using Perl/Tcl/Python. 
 
Minimum Qualifications 
 
BS in Electrical, Computer or related degree program with 3 years of experience.

Pay &amp; Benefits 
 
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You Will Learn
We are seeking qualified candidates who have good knowledge in digital systems, HDL, signal conversion, signal processing, and hands-on experience with development of real-time embedded systems. Your knowledge of high-speed interfaces and experience developing in multiple programming domains, including C/C++, VHDL, Verilog, and scripting languages will be leveraged to create custom R&amp;D hardware. You will join a project team designing, analyzing, and prototyping innovative multi-domain system architectures, solving challenging real-world problems like:<ul><li>
Developing real-time control system architectures to affect the performance of physical systems</li></ul><ul><li>
Developing sophisticated detection, classification, localization, and tracking (DCLT) algorithms for novel signal sources in high-noise environments</li></ul><ul><li>
Support development and testing of experimental testbeds for real-time sensor processing systems, state-of-the-art quantum information systems, integrated photonic systems, and other physical sciences pursuits</li></ul><ul><li>
Supporting implementation and evaluation of real-time systems in real-world contexts and conducting performance analyses</li></ul>
Qualifications You Must Have *<ul><li>

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
