<div>As a Final Mile Driver, you will pick up, transport, and deliver freight locally, not to include hazardous materials, in a non CDL-A vehicle.
Responsible for the safe and timely transportation of freight from origin to destination. Load and unload shipments, either individually or with assistance, with or without mechanical freight handling equipment. Perform frequent lifting, pulling and carrying of freight. Inspects vehicle for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips and submit a written Vehicle Condition Report on the condition of the vehicle at the end of each trip. Check shipping papers to determine the nature of load to ensure hazardous materials are not present. Ensure all shipping documentation (e.g. manifest, security seal sheet, bills of lading, shipping orders, freight bills, etc.) required to move with shipments is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompany shipment when delivered. Properly handle and complete all necessary paperwork related to vehicle operations and freight movements.<div>
For this role, you must: be at least 21 years old; have a High School Diploma or GED; have the ability to satisfactorily pass background check and alcohol and drug test; have a valid Driver's License with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR); have at least 6 months of driving experience, to include a personal motor vehicle; and be willing to enter Southeastern&rsquo;s Driver Trainee Program after successfully completing one year in the Final Mile Driver role. The Shuttle Driver is a hybrid role responsible for moving trailers and equipment both on Company property (approximately 85% of time) and to off-site locations via short-haul shuttle runs (approximately 15% of time). Primary duties include picking up and dropping off trailers at customer locations, intermodal facilities, drop yards, and partner carrier sites, as well as spotting and repositioning trailers within the service center yard to support loading and unloading operations. This position may also serve as a backup for delivery routes as operational needs require. The Shuttle Driver will be required to maintain records by retaining load-related paperwork in compliance with DOT guidelines.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES<ul><li>
Operates a tractor-trailer combination in a safe and legal manner both on Company property (approximately 85% of time) and on public roadways for off-site shuttle runs (approximately 15% of time).</li><li>
Hook and unhook various commercial combinations, to manually lower and raise landing gear, operates fifth wheel release levers, lock and release pintle-hooks, attach and release safety chains, open and close cargo doors, climb into and out of vehicles, and fuels and check oil/coolant levels of vehicles.</li><li>
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.</li><li>
Maintain driving records required to comply with State and Federal regulations.</li><li>
Determine optimal method for loading freight to minimize damage and maximize trailer capacity; secure cargo within the vehicle to avoid damage.</li><li>
Pick up and drop off trailers at customer facilities, drop yards, intermodal/rail locations, and partner carrier terminals as dispatched; obtain required paperwork (BOLs, interchange receipts) at each stop and return completed documents to the service center.</li><li>
Spot and reposition trailers within the service center yard to ensure proper dock door alignment and support timely loading/unloading operations.</li><li>
May serve as a backup driver delivery routes as operationally required; ability to sort and deliver freight to multiple stops is expected in this capacity.</li><li>
Communicate trailer status, yard positions, and any equipment defects or delays to dispatch and the Service Center Manager in a timely manner.</li><li>
Adhere to applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding safety and hazardous materials.
</li><li>Clean and maintain the interior and exterior of vehicles according to Company vehicle standards.</li></ul>
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS<ul><li>
