Provide medical care and management for patients, exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided for the Internal Medicine patient with an emphasis on cardiology patients. Function independently to plan, deliver, and evaluate health care for the Internal Medicine cardiology inpatient population. Job includes rotating through several services, including hospitalist teams and cardiology consult team</p><p>
As the hospitalist team, facilitate the transition of care from the ED to inpatient cardiology services. Focus on the caring for hospitalized patients to manage care and length of stay, improve resource utilization and decrease costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care. On the cardiology consult service, evaluate and manage cardiology consult inpatients and work with the primary team to facilitate appropriate care, including cardiac catheterization, and medication therapy. The position requires staffing nights and weekends and, while primarily located at the University Campus, may staff at other locations including Iowa Rehab hospital and University of Iowa Medical Center North Liberty. Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP):</b></p><ul><li>A Master&rsquo;s degree is required. A Master&rsquo;s degree in Nursing is preferred. If a Master&rsquo;s degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.</li><li>Current certification in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.</li><li>Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa is required.</li></ul><p><b>
Required Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li><p>
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.</p></li><li><p>
Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in area of Internal Medicine clinical practice or previous experience in specified hospital specialty area or demonstrated knowledge of area of clinical practice is required.</p></li><li><p>
Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>
Desired Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li><p>
Experience providing overall medical care and provide medical management for adult patients in a General Internal Medicine inpatient setting is highly desirable.</p></li><li><p>
Experience exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided is highly desirable.</p></li><li><p>
Experience managing length of stay, improve resource utilization and decrease costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care is highly desirable.</p></li><li><p>
