The DigDeep Right to Water Project is a WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) organization committed to closing the water access gap for the 2 million + people in the U.S. who still don&rsquo;t have a tap or a toilet at home. 

DigDeep believes access to clean water is a human right. We run several nationally recognized programs that empower communities to build their own water and sanitation systems. We won the 2018 US Water Prize for our Navajo Water Project, which has brought clean, running water to hundreds of Native families across New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. DigDeep launched the Appalachia Water Project in 2020, in McDowell County, WV. It has since brought clean, sustainable running water to hundreds of families in Southern West Virginia through public - private partnerships with the McDowell County PSD and East Logan PSD in Wyoming County. In addition to clean running water, the project is installing septic systems and connecting households to centralized sewer. The AWP is now expanding into neighboring states of Kentucky and Virginia to continue its quest of clean water for every Appalachian family. Our water projects expanded in 2022 when we launched our Colonias Water Project. This project works to bring clean, running water to the residents living in communities along the Texas-Mexico border. The Texas colonias are largely unincorporated, low-income communities that fall just outside city limits and often lack basic infrastructure. Our work began in Cochran colonia near El Paso. DigDeep partnered with residents, housing nonprofits, and county officials to innovate a new model for public-private-partnership that brings these basic services to families for the first time. Now we're getting the water flowing in 5 more communities. 

The Opportunity 
DigDeep is looking for a collaborative, organized, and detail-oriented person to join our Development team as the Manager, Grants. Reporting to the Director, Development Strategy &amp; Operations, the Manager, Grants will be responsible for the development of grant proposals, donor reports and communication initiatives to drive investment and foster deeper connections with our existing and potential donor/funder base. This position involves significant writing and editing, so a love of writing is a must! Collaborating closely with the Development, Communications, Operations, and Learning &amp; Impact teams, the ideal candidate will be an engaging storyteller and problem solver, demonstrating extreme attention to detail and a deep commitment to water as a human right. 
Key Responsibilities

 Award Acceptance and Onboarding<ul><li>
Before accepting any Notice of Award, partner with Finance and Compliance to review match requirements, period of performance, allowable costs, reporting cadence, and repayment triggers.</li><li>
Confirm in writing that the named operating owner has read and understood the award.</li><li>
Set up each awarded grant in the SPRHC Grant Register with all required tracking fields populated.</li></ul>
Project Management of Awarded Grants<ul><li>
Serve as project manager for awarded grants, building implementation timelines, deliverable schedules, and reporting calendars.</li><li>
Coordinate cross departmental project teams to keep funded activities on scope, on schedule, and within budget.</li><li>
o Run standing check ins with each grant's operating owner and surface risks early.</li></ul>
Financial Coordination with Accounting<ul><li>
Work closely with the Finance team to ensure expenditures are coded correctly to grant funds, drawdowns are timely, match obligations are tracked, and program income is captured.</li><li>
Support monthly close by confirming grant revenue recognition matches expense activity, with deferred revenue released in the period related expenses are recognized.</li><li>
Flag any allowable cost question or budget variance for resolution before it becomes an audit finding.</li></ul>
Reporting and Communication<ul><li>
Maintain the SPRHC Grant Register as the single source of truth for all active awards.</li><li>
Issue regular status updates to the CFO, Accounting, and operating owners on every grant, including drawn versus spent, deliverables due, reporting deadlines, and risk flags.</li><li>
Prepare and submit all funder progress reports, financial reports, and closeout documentation accurately and on time.</li></ul>
Compliance and Stewardship<ul><li>
Ensure ongoing compliance with funder requirements, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), and SPRHC policy.</li><li>
Maintain organized, audit ready grant records.</li><li>
Serve as the primary point of contact with grant funders, responding to inquiries professionally and protecting SPRHC funder relationships.</li><li>
Support audits, monitoring visits, and federal or state site reviews.</li></ul>
Risk Management with the CFO<ul><li>
Operate as a direct extension of the CFO on grant risk.</li><li>
Quantify repayment exposure on any underperforming grant.</li><li>
Escalate disengagement, scope changes, or reporting failures before they reach a funder.</li><li>
Never communicate with a funder about an exit or scope reduction without CFO authorization.</li></ul>
Organizational Support<ul><li>
Educate department heads, clinical staff, and leadership on grant requirements and their roles in funded projects.</li><li>
Assist with sustainability planning so funded initiatives have a path forward when the grant period ends.</li><li>
Contribute to community health planning and performance improvement efforts where grants intersect strategic priorities.</li><li>

Minimum Required Education and Experience:<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in public administration, healthcare administration, nonprofit management, communications, English, or a related field.</li><li>Minimum three years of professional grant writing experience with a documented track record of successful awards.</li><li>Federal grant writing experience with a documented track record of successful awards.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to write clear, compelling, deadline driven narratives under pressure.</li><li>Proven project management experience including timelines, budgets, and coordination across multiple stakeholders.</li><li>Working knowledge of federal grants administration, including Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and standard reporting platforms (Payment Management System, grants.gov, SAM.gov).</li><li>Two professional writing samples submitted with application, at least one a funded proposal.</li></ul>
