Job Description Summary<ul><li>
This is a skilled position requiring the maintenance and up keep of the aggregate quarries, as well as various manual tasks including but not limited to the following: greasing the crushers/all equipment and keeping them in efficient working order; laboring/minor servicing of all equipment as needed, performing ground maintenance; running the loader if trained and needed.</li></ul>
Requirements<ul><li>
Performs basic maintenance and service on all quarry equipment as required.</li><li>
Shoveling, sweeping, steam cleaning, painting, tire work, mechanical assistance, lifting, pushing and pulling various objects and raking.</li><li>
Cleans and maintain quarry daily.</li><li>
Keep crusher lubed and greased.</li><li>
Potential operation of loaders once properly trained. (Great career growth potential)</li><li>
Ability to weld and use cutting torch is a plus.</li><li>
Other duties assigned by supervisor.</li><li>
Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.</li><li>
Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat.</li></ul>
Working Conditions:
Most time is spent outdoors although in the enclosed cab of mobile equipment. Occasional outside assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions, heat, cold, wet or dry. May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel, exhaust, lubricants, solvents, etc.
Work areas may often contain poor and unlevel ground conditions. Work area may have noise levels up to 90 dbs. Work areas require personal protective equipment such as, hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, high visibility vest or shirt, and hearing protection.
Physical/Mental Requirements<ul><li>
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.</li><li>
This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing at times.</li><li>
Must be able to frequently climb stairs and ladders. Must be comfortable with heights and the ability to work up to 100 feet. Ability to operate hand levers, foot pedals and steering wheel.</li><li>
Must be able to enter and exit equipment by climbing 6-step ladder up to 50 times daily.</li><li>
Ability to remain seated in equipment for up to 12 hours daily.</li><li>
Must have hand-eye coordination and vision to safely operate mobile equipment.</li><li>
Ability to read and interpret gauges and use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.</li><li>
Bending, stooping, climbing and reaching are all required.</li><li>
Will be required to lift up to 50 lbs. as well as shovel up to 35 lbs. up to 10 hours per day. Must be able to safely maintain 3 points of contact when applicable.</li><li>
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees and managers.</li><li>
Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.</li><li>

 Performs a variety of routine unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance work. Participates in the landscape and maintenance of City parkland, parks facilities and the grounds of selected City buildings and facilities. Works under the general direction of the Public Works Director, or assigned designee.This position is considered an emergency/disaster position. During emergency conditions, all City employees are automatically considered emergency service workers. City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation, which requires that the employee be ready, willing, and able to report to work during emergencies and/or disasters of any kind, notwithstanding any other commitments the employee may have and be able perform emergency services duties, as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalent. Six months or more experience in landscape construction or maintenance or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.Must also possess the National Incident Management System (NIMS) IS-700 within 30 days of employment and the ICS-100 within 90 days of employment. There may be additional NIMS required, which will be scheduled by your Supervisor.
 
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
 Mows and maintains park and open space areas to include as baseball and soccer fields; mows weeds; cleans and maintains tennis courts and nets; maintains sprinkler systems and assists in the repair and installation of sprinkler lines and heads.Prepares softball/baseball infield clay for games; lines fields for games.Mows, edges, weed-eats, chemically treats and fertilizes turf. Trims hedges, trees, groom plant material; weeds, and mulches plant material.Carries out the seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, watering, and the pest and weed control of landscape.Plants lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, etc.Installs brick walkways, fencing, retaining walls, signage, traffic controls, and other site amenities.
