</li><li>The Hazardous Material Waste Specialist supports the LRC contract by ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations across all facilities, hazardous materials, and waste management operations. This role is responsible for maintaining hazardous waste documentation, conducting inspections of facilities and accumulation areas, managing employee environmental training, and serving as the liaison to government entities to implement and uphold current environmental standards.</li> 
<li>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</li>
<li><ul><li>Performs a variety of warehousing duties which require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan, orders, receives stores, maintains and issues supplies and equipment to support daily operations.</li>

<li>Maintains accountability of government materials assigned to the directorate/department in accordance with established requirements.

General Description of Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>On a monthly and quarterly basis, serve as the LRC liaison to specified government entities to ensure the contract is in compliance with current environmental regulations. Obtain, provide, and put into effect new standards as required.</li>
<li>Ensure all 9 LRC facilities are ready for environmental inspections on a daily basis. This includes daily physical inspections of facilities to ensure they are maintained to regulation standards and are clean and secure. Record and maintain all incorrect findings, report corrected findings and review any documents or labels on site; ensuring they are current. Update and provide training to employees on any new regulation changes.</li>
<li>Collect, record, and maintain all hazardous waste documents to ensure compliance with ADEM, EPA, and specific government inspectors. These include incoming, depleted, and all materials</li>
<li>maintained throughout the maintenance facility.</li>
<li>Obtaining and/or providing RCRA/ Hazardous Training for required employees on the contract and maintaining the training records and job descriptions on file for inspection purposes.</li>
<li>Process, label, and perform inventory through the EESOH system on an estimated 2,500 +/ hazardous materials per month. This includes both new and depleted products.</li>
<li>Maintain the 90-day site for the contract. Perform weekly inspections of the 90-day site and maintain all findings and records of completion.</li>
<li>Must be trained and versed with ESSOH-MIS duties to include periodic inspections of ESSOH-MIS labels for several tenants on the contract.</li>
<li>Review and provide missing SOS Sheets for all material being used or stored in facilities.</li>
<li>Prepare and provide 1348-1A and Hazardous Waste Stream form to Garrison Environmental for turn in procedures.</li>
<li>Ensuring all waste has proper wording, stenciling, labeling and DOT forms prepared and documented for turn in procedures.</li>
<li>Monitor all 6 Satellite Accumulation Areas for the LRC, to make sure they are clean, without leaks or spills and are in compliance at all times based on ADEM, EPA, and government regulations, until they are transferred to our 90-day site for lab analysis.</li>

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Required to walk, stand, sit and move about the property for long periods of time. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling material. Must have the ability to work indoors or outdoors in bad weather. Handle equipment/supplies weighing 30 pounds individually and occasionally items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance. Must possess visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone. Wearing safety equipment (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions. 


WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS:

This position is not eligible for remote work, as the essential functions of the role require the employee to perform duties on-site. May be exposed to inclement/extreme weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may vary from moderate to high, depending on location. Must be able to work in fast paced, multi-task environment. If applicable work 10(+) hours per day Will require having flexed hours to accommodate for mission requirements to include weekends and Holidays. Overtime may be required.

This position ensures compliance with all relevant regulations by collecting, managing, and coordinating waste disposal with internal teams and external vendors.
Job Description Details:
The Hazardous Waste Specialist supports the waste services team in managing hazardous, regulated chemical, universal, radiological, and biological wastes safely and compliantly. This role emphasizes operational efficiency and effective group communication. Key tasks may include:<ul><li>
Proper handling of hazardous chemical and infectious wastes; transports unwanted chemicals from generation sites to the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) storage processing facilities;</li><li>

Performs inspections and evaluation of permitted solid waste facilities, hazardous waste generators, and hazardous waste TSD facilities to determine compliance with federal and state environmental statutes and regulations. B. Reports: Compiles inspection and technical data to prepare reports and correspondence. Submit inspection reports through the supervisor within 30 calendar days of initial inspection. Provide facility with inspection results upon completion of inspection or in writing within 7 calendar days. Where appropriate, telephonic notification of inspection results may be used. C. Follow-up: Reviews corrective action plans and evaluates facility actions to return to compliance. Track compliance efforts by facilities and follow-up corrective actions within 10 calendar days of compliance deadlines. When facilities fail to come into compliance after deadline, refer to the District Environmental Administrator (DEA) for consideration. D. Waste Inspector Training: Completes BWM training requirements for solid and hazardous waste. Obtain OSHA 40-hour training and remain certified with annual refresher training for hazardous site work.

I. Job Summary 
Performs general operations activities and labor duties in any of the following treatment/disposal units: Drum Process, Landfill, Stabilization, Biotreatment, Macro-encapsulation, Waste Water Treatment, Waste Sampling, or Residential/Commercial At Your Door Special Collection departments managing hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
 
 
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
 
 
Tank Farm Operators / Bio Treatment / Arsenic F039 Leachate Treatment Unit 
Monitors FO39 Leachate tank levels, overfill protection devices, and transfers water from tank to tank and to tanker trucks as necessary for off-site shipments of FO39 leachate.<ul><li>
Fill in for other positions (Hazardous Cell Mapper, Hazardous Waste Material Sampler) when required.</li><li>
Monitors alarms, panel board, bar graphs, and motorized valves on each FO39 leachate tank daily.</li><li>
Fill out appropriate documents as required, including shift log detailing level in each FO 39 leachate tank and any liquids entering or leaving tank farm.</li><li>
Inspects all hoses, valves, pumps, cracks in floors, containment walls, and drip pans daily.</li><li>
Monitor rainwater that falls inside the containment area and pump into proper tank.</li><li>
Orders reagent for Bio/Arsenic FO39 Leachate treatment unit as needed to operate unit.</li><li>
Reference site-specific procedures and more detailed site-specific job descriptions.</li><li>

Macro Operators<ul><li>
Treats hazardous debris by sealing in an approved Macro-encapsulation container.</li><li>
Places Macro-encapsulation vaults in roll-off boxes.</li><li>

Fills void spaces in Macro-encapsulation roll-off boxes with cement or gravel.</li><li>
Grinds edge of Macro-encapsulation vault where lid is to be sealed.</li><li>
Measures and cuts the required size of the cover to be tracked on the Macro-encapsulation vault.</li><li>
Seals Macro-encapsulation vaults using equipment provided.</li><li>
Operates yard-truck, forklifts, and bucket loaders as required.</li><li>
Inspects and monitors process and permitted hazardous storage buildings for correction action which include the followings: Floor coatings, cracks, labeling of</li><li>
containers, proper storage of incompatible hazardous waste, and containers which holds hazardous waste are properly closed.</li><li>

Drum Process Unit<ul><li>
Move, empty, or fill with absorbent containers of hazardous waste as indicated by hazardous waste disposal decisions determined by the laboratory.</li><li>
Checks with appropriate personnel to determine correct placement of hazardous waste material and transports hazardous waste to prescribed location as directed.</li><li>
Labels loads as required.</li><li>
When placing hazardous waste in bulk container storage buildings, physically checks hazardous waste is placed in slot next to compatible hazardous waste to</li><li>
prevent potential chemical reactions.</li><li>
Operate yard trucks to move empty trailers to Equipment Wash Facility for cleaning and decontamination, returning clean trailers to storage yard.</li><li>
Operate pneumatic and gear type pumps, perform very minor repairs on chain driven conveyors and solid feed, screw type augers.</li><li>
Operate forklift as required to move hazardous material, rotate hazardous drums, to decant small hazardous containers into a bulk hazardous container, and load or unload trailers.</li><li>
Over pack damaged hazardous containers.</li><li>
Clean up spilled hazardous waste.</li><li>
Operates front-end loader in the landfill to unload hazardous containers.
</li><li>Operates high-lift tractor to empty hazardous contents in van trailers and flatbeds.</li><li>
Performs prescribed safety and maintenance checks to ensure equipment is in safe working condition.</li><li>
Operates other equipment as needed.</li><li>

Completes necessary paperwork and maintain hazardous waste tracking system. Enters data into computerized hazardous waste tracking system and distributes documents as required.
</li><li>Prepare physical hazardous inventories and compare those with the computer-generated inventories and reconcile the differences.
</li><li>Ensure company policies and procedures are followed while performing work assignments.</li><li>
Operates hazardous waste truck wash facility and fills in as hazardous waste cell mapper when required</li><li>
Maintain acceptable level of housekeeping and compliance.</li><li>

Performs inspections and checks of maintenance, housekeeping and environmental compliance natures.</li><li>
Unloads and loads incoming and outgoing waste and other materials.</li><li>
Processes wastes and other materials including but not limited to bulking of paint materials, packaging/bulking of aerosols, palletizing items.</li><li>
Follows standard safety procedures, corrects safety and environmental hazards and reports them to management immediately.
