The Facility Couriers perform a variety of functions including but not limited to transport of equipment, materials, pharmaceuticals, Chemo, U.S. Mail, and supplies throughout the Cayuga Health System Monday - Friday during the first shift. 
Roles and Responsibilities:
Safety:<ul><li>
Demonstrates an understanding of emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedures, and internal/external disaster procedures, as outlined in the fire safety policy, knows personal role in the event of a fire while on duty.
</li><li>Provides a safe environment; demonstrates alertness to areas needing attention in avoiding unsafe conditions such as but not limited to wet flooring, blocked egress areas etc.</li><li>
Maintains work area in a clean and safe manner on a daily basis.</li><li>
Maintains universal precautions and infection prevention techniques. Exceeds: Acquires proper training for spill kits in relationship to items transported.
</li><li>Carries out duties in a safe professional manner, with focus on customer service as a high priority. Exceeds: No substantiated complaints from patients, physicians, staff &amp; visitors.</li></ul>
Scheduling:<ul><li>
Follows assigned Courier Schedule in a timely manner. Exceeds: Volunteers for extra unplanned emergency courier runs when needed.</li><li>
Assists in updating courier schedule as needed. Exceeds: Helps Facility manager by suggesting ways to accommodate new additional deliveries into the courier schedules.</li><li>
Maintains required paperwork logs and transactions.</li><li>
Maintains all Preventative maintenance Work Orders as assigned.</li><li>
Responsible for transport and delivery of all bank bags.</li></ul>
Transportation:<ul><li>
Ensures safe operation of vehicle of vehicle before start of deliveries.</li><li>
Follows all NYS vehicle traffic laws and safety precautions. Exceeds: No traffic violations issued during evaluation year.</li><li>
Courteous to other vehicles on the road and no valid complaints issued for aggressive driving or vehicle operation.</li><li>
Keeps vehicle clean during and after hours of operation. Washes vehicle with supplied vouchers when needed.</li><li>
Follows good personal hygiene and grooming practices. Exceeds: Always wears proper uniform as designated.</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul> 
Required Skills and Experience:<ul><li>
Education - High School Diploma / GED</li><li>
Licensure - A clean valid NYS Driver's license.</li><li>
Experience - Able to drive vehicle in all weather conditions.</li></ul> 
Physical Requirements:<ul><li>
This position requires the ability to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. The courier is responsible for loading and unloading items into the vehicle which include but not limited to boxes, equipment, supplies, and food. Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time while driving.</li></ul>

Location: Cayuga Medical Center- 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850</li><li>
Shift: This position will cover vacation, sick, and PTO for full-time couriers when needed</li><li>

Pay Range Disclosure:
Standard rate of $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Role Overview 


Medical Courier Drivers are responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely transport of medical specimens, supplies, pharmaceuticals, and documents between healthcare facilities. This role requires professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong sense of responsibility, as each delivery directly supports patient care.

This is a scheduled, route-based position, not on-demand or gig-style work.

<li>Maintain accurate delivery records using mobile applications and/or paper manifests</li>
<li>Maintain proper chain-of-custody for all parcels</li>
<li>Follow all protocols for safely entering and exiting medical facilities</li>
<li>Handle medical parcels in accordance with safety guidelines and training provided</li>
<li>Load, unload, and transport parcels throughout the workday, including repetitive lifting and vehicle entry/exit</li>
<li>Complete pickups and deliveries within scheduled time windows</li>
<li>Communicate delays, issues, or incidents promptly to dispatch or supervision</li>
<li>Represent ACS with professionalism when interacting with healthcare staff and facilities</li></ul> 


Physical Requirements

This position involves regular physical activity throughout the workday. Drivers must be able to:
