General Description
The purpose of this class is responsible for the operation of heavy equipment to assist in the construction, repair, and maintenance of county streets, drainage systems, beaches, and related infrastructure.
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below account for the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the class's work type as necessary.
<ul><li>Operates and maintains road paving construction equipment, including rollers, loaders, tractors, dump trucks, backhoes, and water trucks.
</li><li>Patches roadways, cuts brush, and picks up and disposes of trash and brush.
</li><li>Loads and unloads large amounts and weights of materials and debris to and from trucks.
</li><li>Drives a medium-sized truck to transport personnel, supplies, and materials.
</li><li>May flag traffic as needed.
</li><li>May perform housekeeping and facilities maintenance functions.
</li><li>Performs related work as assigned.
</li></ul>Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
<ul><li>Requires a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
</li><li>Requires six months of experience in construction, maintenance or repairs of roadways, bridges, and operating heavy and light construction equipment or closely related experience.
</li></ul>Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Unavoidable hazards are job conditions that may lead to injury or health risks even when precautions have been taken.
The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
The work is typically performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery, and chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

Each day you&rsquo;ll work at one of our recycling facilities that service over 20 million customers across the USA. As a Heavy Equipment Operator I you&rsquo;ll be responsible for operating heavy equipment like bulldozers, scrapers &amp; front-end loaders - this role is vital to the work we do, so your work will be recognized and valued for the impact it has on our operation. Our heavy equipment operators take their careers to the next level by working on equipment that requires a high level of skill &ndash; and determination. Our waste disposal sites have strict procedures in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all our Landfill employees.

Operates heavy equipment in compliance with the company operating safety policies and procedures.
<ul><li>Conducts routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment; maintains accurate records.
</li><li>Moves and positions raw materials and finished components with use of material moving equipment.</li><li>
Follow appropriate standard operating procedures as per guidelines for operating and maintaining vehicle.
</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.
</li></ul></li></ul>What do you need to be considered for the role of Heavy Equipment Operator I?<ul><li>
1 year of experience operating heavy equipment.<ul><li>
Be over 18 years of age.</li><li>
Legally eligible to work in the United States</li><li>
Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.</li><li>
Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.</li><li>
Preferred Experience: Dozer
