<div><p>The IT Support Desk Intern is responsible for providing corporate end-users with a single point of contact for all technology-related requests for support, service and computer training. The role is to serve as an advocate for the customer (corporate end-user), assuming ownership of customer issues and ensuring successful resolutions, while maintaining ongoing communication with customers regarding the status of their request. $21.00 per hour.</p>

Timing &amp; Commitment:</b><br>
This is a Summer 2026 internship running from mid-May through August (approximately 10&ndash;12 weeks). The expected start date is flexible between May 15 and June 1, depending on academic schedules. Some flexibility in start and end dates may be accommodated.</p>

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES </b>include the following. Other duties may be assigned.</p>

<li>Provides entry level technical support across all platforms and environments for internal and remote users.

</li><li>Maintains the IT call tracking system by receiving initial client contacts (telephone, email, etc.) and ensuring information is accurate and well-documented. Reports and tracks technology problems, inquiries, and related requests and responds accurately and promptly to incoming contacts. Collects required data and logs detailed information in the IT call tracking system.
</li><li>Determines severity of unresolved issues and escalates issues accordingly. Updates records to reflect status changes. Support requests must be monitored and escalated when appropriate per service-related guidelines.</li>
<li>Communicates with end-users, Technical Services staff, and managers about the urgency of issues, impact of any interruption of IT services, and changes in the issue's status. Communicates technical issues at appropriate level for audience.
</li><li>Demonstrates tact in sensitive situations with end-users.</li>
<li>Analyzes business impact of potentially serious technology/security problems that may have a negative impact on business operations and provides detailed information to supervisor.
</li><li>Learns, maintains and complies with IT policies and procedures, especially those for quality and productivity standards that enable the team to meet established client service levels. Develops Help Desk procedures and end-user documentation as needed.</li>
<li>Performs account security administration and remote system monitoring; proactively reports system outages.</li>
<li>Participates in special projects and performs departmental related office administrative duties as assigned.</li></ul><br>

Sterling is seeking a highly motivated <b>IT (Information Technology) Support Intern</b>, who will be accountable for standardizing IT documentation by creating knowledge base articles both to automate service to the user and to formalize documentation for IT.<br>

The IT Support Intern will be a first line IT support by triaging and assigning tickets to the internal IT team and categorizing appropriately. This categorization will provide initial data gathering for the support ticket and then escalate to 2nd line or System Administrators. The IT intern will work closely with our Onsite Systems Administrator to provide cable management in the server rooms, providing support to remove unused equipment and help ease identification of ports if issues arise. In addition, the intern will take on the project of decommissioning older equipment (desktops/servers) including archiving and erasing of Hard drives when appropriate. The position will also assist with the imaging, and deployment of user laptops, and lab workstations as needed.   As an IT Helpdesk Intern, you will act as one of Gemma&rsquo;s IT resources at our home office while also providing remote and on-site support to project locations. You will be responsible for helping to support end-users and ensure the smooth operation of technology systems. This role requires knowledge of hardware, software, networking, and infrastructure.

  Helpdesk &amp; End-User Support:
 </p>
 <br/>
 <ul>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Serve asapoint of contact for IT-related issues via ticketing system, phone, and in-person support.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Troubleshoothardware, software, and network problems, ensuring timely resolution to minimize downtime.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Assist users with Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Provide support for VPN, remote desktop connections, and mobile device configurations.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Maintain documentation of troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and user guides for common IT issues.
  </li>

   Education and Experience Requirements
  </strong>
 </p>

   Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Familiarity with Windows Environments, networking protocols, and IT infrastructure.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Ability to diagnose &amp; resolve IT issues swiftly and effectively.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Possesses an understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, VLANs, routing, and switching.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, and Intune device management.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Adheres to policies &amp; procedures as documented for IT-related activities.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Hands-on experience with Cisco, Cisco Meraki, and/or Ubiquiti networking equipment is a plus.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Previous work or intern experience in an IT helpdesk or IT support role is a plus.
  </li>

   Effective communication, time management, and independent problem-solving skills.
  </li>
  <br/>
  <li>
   Must possess excellent verbal &amp; written communication skills.
  </li>

   Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
