Advanced Behavioral Health, Inc. (ABH) is a nonprofit behavioral health organization committed to delivering meaningful, mission-driven care to the communities we serve. We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to support a workforce of approximately 150 employees and serve as a trusted operational partner to the VP of Human Resources.

This role is responsible for the day-to-day execution of core HR functions including benefits and leave administration, HR compliance, recruitment support, onboarding, and HRIS administration. The HR Business Partner provides direct operational support to the VP of HR and serves as a key backup in employee relations matters. This individual will help build a high-performing, compliant, and people-centered workplace that reflects ABH’s values and mission.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Performance Management
<br><br>

<li>Support the VP of Human Resources in managing employee relations matters including performance concerns, corrective action, and workplace conflicts</li>
<li>Assist in documenting and tracking ER cases, investigations, and disciplinary actions under the direction of the VP of HR</li>
<li>Serve as backup point of contact for employee relations matters in the absence of the VP of HR; escalate complex or sensitive issues appropriately</li>
<li>Provide guidance to managers on documentation, policy interpretation, and corrective action processes in alignment with HR direction</li>
<li>Help maintain a consistent, fair, and compliant approach to employee relations across the organization</li>
</ul>
Compliance & Risk Management

<li>Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and organizational policies</li>
<li>Support HR audits, policy updates, and regulatory reporting requirements</li>
<li>Assist with ADA accommodations, leave administration coordination, and employee documentation</li>
<li>Maintain working knowledge of employee benefit programs including group health plans, 401(k), FMLA, and workers’ compensation; serve as a resource to employees with general questions and direct complex matters to the VP of HR or appropriate vendor</li>
<li>Support annual benefits open enrollment including employee communications, enrollment processing, and coordination with the VP of HR and benefits vendors</li>
<li>Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment regarding all sensitive employee matters</li>

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

HR Operations & Collaboration

Requirements

Qualifications Required

<li>3–5 years of progressive HR experience with demonstrated competency across core HR functions including benefits, leave administration, and compliance</li>
<li>Active HR certification required: PHR or SPHR (HRCI) | SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP</li>
<li>Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, workers’ compensation, and Connecticut employment law</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience administering employee benefits programs including health plans, 401(k), and workers’ compensation</li>
<li>Familiarity with leave administration including federal and Connecticut FMLA and CT Paid Leave</li>
<li>Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and discretion</li>

<div><div><p>As a Regional HR Business Partner, you will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to regional leadership, helping ensure our stores are set up for strong performance and sustainable growth. This role supports a multi-state region that includes the Miami market, Tampa market, Jacksonville, Manassas, Virginia, and Bowie, Maryland.</p>

<div><p>This is a field-focused role, with up to 50&ndash;75% of your time spent in stores within your assigned region, supporting General Managers and their leadership teams. Your primary mission is to build bench strength by ensuring talent development is happening consistently across every location you support, while also supporting the execution of recruiting strategies that strengthen both internal and external talent pipelines. You will coach leaders on identifying high-potential employees, ensure development frameworks are being followed, and partner with store leadership to build a pipeline of qualified candidates ready for promotion into leadership roles, while also driving consistent hiring practices and supporting local recruiting efforts across the region.</p>

<div><p>Beyond talent development, you will serve as the region&rsquo;s HR expert, owning employee relations, driving compliance, and ensuring our stores operate within federal, state, and local employment laws.
