Assists in the recruiting, interviewing, and processing of candidates to fill vacant positions.</li><li>

Coordinates travel arrangements for candidate site visits, and provides travelers with itineraries, confirmation codes, and other information necessary for travel.</li><li>
Assists in processing new employees by completing reference checks, scheduling drug screening, processing criminal background checks, and preparing new hire packets.</li><li>
Processes background checks for employees, volunteers, interns, and Board Members through the State of Alaska system. Supports facility access by assigning access permissions and issuing identification badges.</li><li>
Plans and prepares new employee onboarding, KANA Connection, All Staff Meeting and other staff recognition events. Prepares personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and separations.</li><li>
Assists in the administration of KANA's Drug and Alcohol-Free program to include new hire drug screening, random referrals, for-cause, village screenings, board member screenings, result inquiries and billing.</li><li>
Assists in the coordination and scheduling of employee training and development opportunities. Compiles data and assists in preparation of salary studies.</li><li>
Assists with or redirect inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.</li><li>
Assists in the development and maintenance of HR policies, job descriptions, staff directories, and other related documents.
</li><li>Assists the Human Resources Director and/or other departments with special projects as assigned.</li><li>
Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation; schedules exit interviews.</li><li>

Job Summary

The Human Resource Assistant is responsible for supporting the HR Recruitment Team and will participate in posting, screening, processing background checks and tracking new hires. This is high volume, fast paced role that requires a knack for organization, multitasking, customer service and an eye for detail.

Responsibilities
