The Consultant will provide expert clinical leadership in the assessment, stabilization, and management of critically ill patients. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based critical care services while supporting multidisciplinary teamwork, patient safety, and continuous improvement within the ICU.</p><p><b>
Main Duties and Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>
Provide comprehensive management of critically ill adult patients, including advanced resuscitation, organ support, and life-sustaining therapies.</li><li>
Lead daily multidisciplinary ward rounds and develop individualized care plans.</li><li>
Perform and supervise critical procedures such as airway management, central venous access, arterial line insertion, and ultrasound-guided interventions.</li><li>
Oversee the safe use of mechanical ventilation, renal replacement therapy, hemodynamic monitoring, and sedation/analgesia protocols.</li><li>
Ensure rapid assessment and management of ICU admissions, transfers, and emergencies.</li><li>
Review and approve discharge plans from the ICU to ensure continuity of care.</li><li>
Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to ICU physicians, residents, nurses, and allied health staff.</li><li>
Facilitate effective communication within the multidisciplinary team.</li><li>
Participate in on-call duties as per departmental schedules.</li><li>

Ensure compliance with national and international critical care best-practice guidelines.</li><li>

Responsibilities:

The Monitor Tech is an unlicensed person who performs indirect care in the department setting. Monitors cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors. Meets the communication needs of the department. Transcribes physician orders in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation system. Verifies that lab tests and radiology tests have been ordered and done. Prepares and complies records in the ER. Orders supplies for the unit and prepares and completes each patient's chart for necessary forms needed on a daily basis. Able to assist nursing staff with indirect patient care duties as long as the activity does not distract from primary responsibility for dysrhythmia monitoring. *Note: May provide direct patient care under the direct supervision of the RN within scope of Certified Nursing Assistant if 1) possesses active CNA certification; 2) demonstrates annual competency in CNA duties and skills and 3) is relieved of Monitor Technician duties during the time of assisting the RN.</div>

Fast Paced Unit Combining Aspects Of ED And ICU Into One Department-Busyness Of ED &amp; Critical Care Aspect Of ICU.</b></h2><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Requires And Builds Strong Assessment Skills And Teamwork</b></h2><p></p><p>
Qualifications:</p><ul><li><b>
Education</b>: High school diploma, G.E.D., CNA/CPCT or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum, and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.</li><li><b>
Experience</b>: If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the state of practice Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCT position per state guidelines.</li><li><b>
Certifications:</b> BLS Required within one month of hire, completion of PCT competencies within 3 months of hire.</li><li><b>
Other</b>: Minimum Physical Requirements- Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.- Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.- Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.</li><li><b>
Preferred Experience</b>: EMT, Paramedic or Previous Patient Care Experience.- Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) in the state of practice, Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT).</li></ul><p></p><h1 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
