<b>Job Summary:</b> The Academic Coordinator serves as the dedicated point-person for all things academic for our clients and families during treatment. This role involves providing tutoring and supervision to clients during dedicated school time, coordinating with schools to ensure clients have schoolwork, linking families with academic resources, and supporting families through the IEP process. This position will work at one 6 bed residential program supporting 6 clients in <b>Danville, CA</b>.<br>

<b>Essential Functions</b><ul><li>
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that client&rsquo;s academic needs are met alongside their mental health needs.</li><li>
Collaborate with clients and families to develop an individualized academic program including learning goals for each student during their time in RTC.</li></ul><ul><li>
Facilitates positive learning experiences for clients and provides 1:1 support with schoolwork</li><li>
Comfortable participating and collaborating in IEP meetings for clients, able to provide parents with assistance in advocating for their child in IEP meetings</li><li>
Collaborate with parents to get Release of Information forms completed for schools and provide school notes if needed</li><li>
Understanding of common accommodations schools are able to provide students with learning differences, ADHD, emotional disturbance</li><li>
Collaborates with school counselors/teachers to ensure client&rsquo;s academic needs are met.</li><li>
Maintains safety of students through close observation and monitoring through &ldquo;line of sight&rdquo; supervision.</li></ul><ul><li>
Consults with Primary Therapist, Program Directors, Ed Consultants and parents providing recommendations and accommodations</li><li>
Provides weekly updates to parents on client&rsquo;s academic progress</li></ul><ul><li>

<li>Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a closely related field of study.</li>
<li>Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an adaptive physical educator (APE) credential.</li>

<li>Hold currently or have the ability to obtain a valid CA state drivers license.</li>
<li>Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training.</li>
<li>Prior experience working with adaptive physical education services, preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.</li>
<li>Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders and/or other related disabilities.</li>
<li>Prior experience and/or highly knowledgeable in working with students with individualized education plans (IEP's).</li>
<li>Well-versed in applied behavior analysis (ABA), positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), effective teaching strategies, classroom management systems, data-based decision making, functional behavior analysis (FBA) and behavior intervention plans (BIP's).</li>
<li>Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals.</li>
<li>Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency and make independent decisions.</li>
<li>Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability.</li>
