About the role
The Director of Financial Analysis drives high quality analysis, reporting and story-telling for consumption by senior management and other parties. The Director will research key findings in the financial statements for one or more of Kuvare&rsquo;s business segments through drilldowns into financial data, discussions with key stakeholders throughout the organization including Financial Reporting, Actuarial, Investment Accounting, Reinsurance and Treasury, and the assembly of dynamic schedules and exhibits to tell the story. The focus will be on analysis and documentation of key performance indicators, and explanations for deviations from expectations such as the Annual Plan to aid in management decision-making, as well as comparisons to industry benchmarks and competitors where appropriate. This may include performing and documenting new audit queries, enhancing standard reporting, and performing other ad-hoc assignments to define proper analysis, trouble-shooting problem-areas and establishing adequate controls over reporting. The Director will also play a key role in coordinating the development of the Annual Financial Plans for one or more business segments on both a GAAP and STAT basis. The Director will guide junior staff using their industry and analytical expertise. This position reports to the FP&amp;A AVP but has a dotted line to leadership of the business segment(s) (s)he reports on.
What you'll do
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to<ul><li> Develop and maintain key analysis to be distributed to management quarterly (statutory and GAAP reporting) in the form of a Management Reporting Package. The reporting must be written at a level that can be consumed by senior management, outside investors and other key stakeholders to the Company. This requires collaboration with other departments within the organization to provide a total picture of the performance of the underlying business. Create standard templates for collection of information and support to establish an efficient process with consistent results.</li><li> Identify and leverage external information, such as industry publications, competitive intelligence and other benchmarks to enhance the telling of Kuvare&rsquo;s operating results story.</li><li> Coordinate with Actuarial, Investment Accounting, Reinsurance, and the broader Finance team to assemble an Annual Financial Plan for one or more segments of the Kuvare group of companies. Qualifications
Experience<ul><li> BS in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, or related area</li><li> ASA designation</li><li> 2-5 years of full-time insurance actuarial experience. Modeling, analyzing, reporting experiences preferred.</li><li> Demonstrated ability with Actuarial software (e.g., AXIS, MG-ALFA, ARCVal)</li><li> Experience managing project(s) and/or significantly contributing to the completion of team-oriented tasks.</li></ul>

About the role
This position is part of the Actuarial Development Program for Kuvare Corporate Management (KCM). The Program offers students an array of experiences including Life and Annuity Valuation, Modeling and Forecasting, Product Management, Asset Liability Management, and Enterprise Risk Management. The Program is designed with the objective to develop Fellows in the Society of Actuaries.
What you'll do
As an employee in the Actuarial Development Program, your day-to-day activities will be dependent on the function you are supporting and are expected to change throughout your employment. 
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to 
Valuation tasks<ul><li> Prepare and help monitor reserve trends monthly on GAAP, statutory, and tax accounting bases</li><li> Assist in preparation of Statutory Annual and Quarterly Statements</li><li> Update Valuation models and organize results for management.</li><li> Assist in gathering information and analysis for external auditor inspections</li></ul> 
Pricing &amp; Product Development<ul><li> Support rate setting and other non-guaranteed elements (NGE) process; perform analysis to support business decisions, coordinate signoff, and monitor implementation.</li><li> Manage projects and stakeholders to promote timely and effective progress on key initiatives</li><li> Assist Pricing Actuaries in designing new products</li><li> Leading cross-functional teams in education, objectives, and project decisions relevant to the product</li><li> Managing and communicating pricing risks, profitability, scenario analysis</li><li> Ensure products are built appropriately in administration system and validating test cases</li></ul> 
Product Management tasks<ul><li> Produce and improve monthly business monitoring reporting</li><li> Produce monthly crediting rate package and process</li><li> Coordinate with ALM and System on data and result analysis</li><li> Assist in the development and analyze annual Illustration Actuary testing models</li><li> Assist on special policy illustration requests</li><li> Assist on Product related projects and requests</li></ul> 
Modeling and Forecasting tasks<ul><li> Build and review model inputs to support financial projection capability</li><li> Execute and monitor model projections including troubleshooting model calculations</li><li> Analyze model output ensuring accuracy with intended model purpose</li></ul> 
Risk and Investments tasks<ul><li> Update quarterly stress testing results and compare versus risk appetite and limit</li><li> Build quarter end asset model staging for production, for multiple lines of business</li><li> Research and implement modeling of complex asset types (structured securities, hybrid securities), investment/reinvestment strategies, cash flow behaviors, and regulations in Moody&rsquo;s AXIS</li><li> Monitor asset and liability duration, report mismatches outside of tolerance</li></ul>
