A Day in the Life: 
This role will be responsible for various aspects of indirect state and local tax compliance, including sales and use tax, property tax, and other indirect taxes. Additionally, this role will support the preparation of income tax workpapers. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of state and local tax laws and regulations, advanced Excel skills, and experience with large datasets and analytical tools. This individual will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely tax compliance while identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation.

What You'll be Doing: 
Sales and Use Tax Compliance: 
o Coordinate with the shared service team and provide guidance on preparation of sales and use tax returns. 
o Review and file sales and use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions. 
o Manage exemption certificates and ensure proper documentation. 
o Research and analyze taxability of products and services. 
o Reconcile sales tax data with general ledger accounts. 
o Assist with sales and use tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
Property Tax Compliance: 
o Prepare and file property tax returns. 
o Manage property tax payments and assessments. o Calculate annual property tax accruals. 
o Research and initiate property tax appeals, if necessary.
Other Indirect Taxes: 
o Ensure compliance with other applicable indirect taxes, including gross receipts tax, excise tax, and any industry-specific taxes. 
o Monitor and adapt to unique jurisdictional requirements and changes in tax regulations.
Tax Research: 
o Conduct in-depth research on complex indirect tax issues. 
o Interpret tax regulations and apply findings to business operations. o Document research findings and maintain a repository of tax information. 
o Utilize tax research software to stay current on legislative changes. 
o Process Improvement and Automation: 
o Identify opportunities to streamline indirect tax processes and improve efficiency. 
o Evaluate and implement automation tools to minimize manual tasks and reduce errors.
Income Tax Support: 
o Assist in the preparation of income tax workpapers.
Communication and Collaboration: 
o Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders (e.g., accounting, finance, operations) regarding indirect tax matters. 
o Interact with external stakeholders, including auditors and tax authorities. 
Skills/Experience Requirements: 
o Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 
o Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in indirect state tax compliance.

About the Role We're looking for an Indirect Tax Specialist to join our team. In this role, you'll assist in managing our indirect tax obligations across the globe, ensuring we comply with local tax regulations across our 7 jurisdictions. You will be a key player in managing our processes, conducting critical tax research, and supporting business operations.  As an Indirect Tax Manager, you will work for Agoda Services Co., Ltd in Bangkok and report directly to the Associate Director, Tax. You will be part of the Finance team (approximately 100 professionals) and also work closely with the Legal team.

 As an Indirect Tax Advisor, you will have the unique opportunity to work in Bangkok for Agoda Services Co. Ltd, reporting to the Indirect Tax Senior Manager of Agoda. You will be part of a broader tax advisory team that is rapidly growing in light of the changing tax landscape for digital services. While being part of the broader Tax and Finance team, you will also work closely with the Product and Legal teams.
 
 
 The focus of this position is to manage all tax advisory matters related to VAT, sales tax, GST and other indirect taxes for Agoda, including the compliance with tax regulations across the globe. You will have end-to-end responsibility for your own projects from scoping the challenge (incl. budgeting) to the overall solution (execution and implementation), including stakeholder management and relationships with our tax advisors. While this role remains very hands-on, you will also be expected to contribute to the long-term vision of the tax team and to share your tax technical expertise with the broader team to support their growth.

 We are looking for an experienced tax professional to join our Indirect Tax team where you will advise clients on transaction tax matters across the GCC and MENA regions. The role involves conducting due diligence, ensuring VAT/GST compliance, and guiding clients on tax implications of business decisions.
 
 
 
 Your Key Responsibilities

 Provide transaction tax advisory services to clients, including mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings focused in the GCC and MENA regions.

 Conduct due diligence reviews to identify tax risks and opportunities.
 </li>
 <li>
 Prepare and review tax compliance documentation related to entities involved in the transaction focused on GST/VAT and other indirect taxes.

 <li>
 Collaborate with the tax and finance teams workstreams within the practice to deliver efficient tax outcomes and develop strong relationships within the overall tax practice.

 <li>
 Assist the central tax team to help clients in understanding the tax implications of their business decisions.
 </li>
 <li>
 Develop knowledge of key GCC indirect taxes and stay updated on tax legislation and industry trends to provide informed advice.

 <li>
 Mentor and train junior staff members in the Indirect tax advisory practices.
 
 
 </li>

 Skills And Attributes For Success
 
 
 
 <ul>

 2-4 years of experience in transaction tax advisory and due diligence, preferably within a Big 4 accounting firm specifically involving:
 </li>
 <li>
 Structuring and advising on the direct or indirect tax implications of mergers and acquisitions.
 </li>
 <li>
 Conducting tax due diligence assessments and preparing reports for clients.
 </li>
 <li>
 Identifying and mitigating tax risks associated with transactions.
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
 </li>
 <li>
 Proficient in tax research, understanding ERP system tax outputs and financial statement reports.
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in teams.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong English written and speaking skills (ability to comprehend and read Arabic desirable but not required)
