Summary:
Assists in the filling and compounding of all inpatient and outpatient medication orders under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. Provides work-related experience for students enrolled in accredited schools of pharmacy. 
Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Accurately interprets and fills all inpatient and outpatient medication orders under the direction supervision of a registered pharmacist.</li><li>
Demonstrates the ability to cover all areas of the pharmacy, including inpatient, Pyxis, IV admixtures, etc.</li><li>
Demonstrates initiative and completes work assignments efficiently and effectively, Adheres to daily work schedules with regard to delivery times and lunches.</li><li>
Is knowledgeable of all job responsibilities, including deliveries, pickups, order processing, billing exceptions, etc., and executes them in a timely fashion. Assists co-workers during busy times and periods of staff shortages.</li><li>
Maintains adequate stock levels in all areas of the pharmacy and other areas of the hospital.</li><li>
Processes all credits/returns and checks and replenishes emergency boxes and emergency carts in a timely fashion.</li><li>
Is responsive to the directions of a pharmacist. Communicates with pharmacy staff and other hospital personnel to maintain continuity of patient care.</li><li>
Accurately refills Pyxis machines and assists in the resolution of Pyxis discrepancies.</li><li>
Demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and all levels of hospital personnel. Shows, courtesy, compassion, sensitivity and respect.</li><li>

Education or Equivalent Experience:<ul><li>
Must obtain Pharmacy Internship Certificate issued by the State of Pennsylvania within 12 months of hire.</li><li>

Purpose: 
Pharmacist Specialists are responsible and accountable for the provision of safe, effective, and cost-effective pharmacotherapy. They provide support of specialized areas of centralized and decentralized medication-use systems to deliver optimal medication therapy. Description
This is a full time overnight Inpatient Pharmacy Technician position with a 7 on 7 off schedule at West Hospital in Avon, IN. The shift hours are 8pm - 7am.
Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy department in one or more of the following areas: inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, specialty medications, and medication histories. Assists with all functions required for medication processing including answering telephones, taking refill orders, entering orders into system, preparing the medication for pharmacist check, preparing medications for disbursement/shipment/delivery. Key job duties may consist of handling supplies, stocking prepackaged items, maintaining inventory, delivering supplies, maintaining records, distributing supplies. May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of I.V. solutions. Works with pharmacy staff to minimize the potential for medication errors.<ul><li>
High School Diploma/GED is required.
</li><li>Requires Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
</li><li>Requires Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy or enrolled in or graduated from an ASHP/ACPE accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
</li><li>Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
</li><li>Requires strong mathematical calculation skills.</li><li>
Requires ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills in assigned areas and work under close supervision or under clearly defined procedures.</li><li>
Requires ability to learn effective written and communication skills.
