Provide instructional support to any and all students, and/or a specific student or group of students as assigned.</div><div>
Instructional Assistants may be used in any classroom situation under the immediate and direct supervision of a certified professional to perform those tasks specified in the duties and responsibilities of this job description. The design, direction and evaluation of the teaching/learning process must be done by a professional employee. The Instructional Assistant is under the supervision of the certified professional in charge of the assignment and to the Building Principal. The Instructional Assistant may monitor student behavior through report, but cannot be directly involved in disciplinary procedures. The Instructional Assistant will be evaluated by the certified professional in charge of the specific assignment and the Building Principal.</div><div><b><br>
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:</b></div><div>
Please note: Duties and responsibilities for this position will vary depending on the building and grade to which the position is assigned, and if the position supports an entire classroom, a small group of students, or provides one-on-one assistance to a student.</div><ul><li>
Serve as a personal assistant to special needs student, providing him/her with assistance in learning activities, with special projects, personal care activities, logging daily activities, follow-up with instructional support team and parents. Duties will vary depending on the individual's needs.</li><li>
Provide and facilitate learning support activities for all or an assigned subject area.</li><li>
Provide in-class assistance to students with Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs). Assist student(s)</li><li>
with staying focused and on-task, monitor and report behavior problems; take notes on material being instructed, re-teach/teach material; assist students with completion of homework, classroom projects, and use of technology/computer.</li><li>
Prepare IEP students for quizzes and tests (i.e. study sessions, review games). Create and adapt quiz and test preparation materials.</li><li>
Administer quizzes/tests as per IEP under guidance of classroom teacher and learning support teacher.</li><li>
Attend/participate in IEP and team meetings, when required. Become familiar with IEPs of students</li><li>
serviced.</li><li>
Provide support to assigned department (English, Math, Science, ESL, etc.). Assist with preparation and</li><li>
set-up of learning activities, monitor students' activities; provide one-on-one assistance with learning</li><li>
activities and test taking in class and through tutoring, grade assignments and tests.</li><li>
Teach learning strategies to individuals and small groups in one or multiple subject areas. Develop and</li><li>
implement learning activities (i.e. flashcards, worksheets, etc.).</li><li>
Record assessment data and perform testing for special needs students.</li><li>
Read IEPs and provide information to teachers and others assisting that student.Assist with student supervision in hallways, at breakfast, during assemblies, and at beginning and end of school day.</li><li>

The Instructional Associate will play an essential role in our organization's mission as he/she trains Per Scholas learners to be outstanding entry and mid-level technicians.<br/></p><p>WHAT YOU'LL DO:<br/></p><p>Classroom Facilitation<br/></p><p>Using a structured and approved curriculum, assist the Technical Instructor in conducting technical training to prepare learners for entry to mid-level Information Technology jobs. Technical training competencies include but are not limited to hardware, software, networking, security, server, mobility, virtualization, cyber security, web development, quality assurance, and project management.<br/>Assist classroom facilitation in a highly interactive, hands-on style. The IA will consult with the Instructor before providing current learners with any review materials, videos, or other support.<br/>The IA will form and lead study groups using the instructor's evaluations. The instructor and the learners will determine topics. These study groups can be held during class time (as the instructor approves) or before/after class.<br/>The IA will consult with the instructor to determine the activities for the present and upcoming days and assist in gathering the necessary tools to conduct the lectures and hands-on labs.<br/>The IA will understand the curriculum and be prepared to conduct a lesson if the instructor needs to be out of the classroom.<br/>Please note an IA will not be asked to facilitate a lesson for an extended period.<br/>The IA will ensure that all equipment loaned to or used by the learners is returned to the instructor, the storage closet, or the person from whom it was borrowed.<br/>Utilize an in-house Learning Management System for assignments, tests, real-time performance monitoring, and assisting in entering learner attendance/grades/scorecards.<br/>The Per Scholas curriculum calls for a maximum of 1.5 hours of lecture in a 6-hour teaching day.
