The Instructional Interventionist supports academic achievement for students attending Excel Center, meeting students where they are. The Interventionist employs a student-centered approach effectively tailoring individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. Duties include monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance. The position will work under the direct supervision of the leadership team who will oversee which students receive intervention as well as intervention strategies. This position is funded by the ESSER grant to support the return to in-person instruction and school improvement goals while adhering to the Indiana State Standards.
Example Duties and Activities<ul><li>
Partners with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for the delivery of high-quality instruction to individual students and small groups that meet academic standards and measure progress towards student mastery of the Indiana Academic Standards, Common Core State Standards, and 21st Century Skills.</li><li>
Works with school personnel to implement and utilize identified research-based interventions that specifically focus on individual student needs.</li><li>
Participates in meetings with teachers, coaches, and administration to discuss student placement and progress. Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups.</li><li>
Maintains, tracks, and communicates relevant student performance documentation and data to set improvement and/or achievement goals and to drive future evaluation and feedback. Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to mastery.</li><li>
Provides diagnostic assessments for students as needed.
</li><li>Assists with student attendance keeping.</li><li>
Develops personal professional/performance goals and action plans to reach goals. Reflects on prior goals and makes adjustments to professional practice and goals.</li><li>

GENERAL PURPOSE 
Stafford&rsquo;s &ldquo;All-In&rdquo; Tutoring Plan prioritizes student academic needs in grades 3-5 to include those who were unsuccessful at mastering content as demonstrated by their performance on previous state Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments and those who are identified as &ldquo;at risk&rdquo; by their teachers or through performance on various screeners and assessments. 
The Intervention Specialist role requires a diverse skill set and a deep understanding of educational practices and student needs. 3) Track, document, and analyze student progress<ul><li>
Maintain accurate records of intervention sessions, attendance, and student performance</li><li>
Collect and analyze literacy data to monitor growth and inform instructional decisions</li><li>
Prepare progress notes and reports for MTSS documentation and team review</li><li>
Assist with authorizer site review evidence collection</li></ul>
4) Provide language arts support in the drop-in tutoring lab<ul><li>
Attend scheduled tutoring lab hours to provide supplemental literacy support to students</li><li>
Assist students with reading assignments, writing tasks, and skill reinforcement aligned to MTSS goals</li><li>
Collaborate with tutors and MTSS team members to ensure consistency of instructional strategies and supports</li><li>
Observe and note patterns in student needs to inform intervention planning and progress monitoring</li></ul>
5) Foster a positive, supportive learning environment<ul><li>
Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment in small-group or individual settings</li><li>
Actively encourage, motivate, and engage students to build confidence and perseverance in literacy skills</li><li>
Support positive student behavior and promote effective reading, writing, and study strategies</li></ul>

Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in English, Education, Literacy, or a closely related field</li><li>
Demonstrated knowledge of language arts instruction, including reading comprehension, writing development, grammar, and vocabulary</li><li>
Experience delivering literacy intervention within an MTSS framework or comparable data-driven model, including progress monitoring and instructional adjustments</li><li>
Proven experience working with educational staff, students, and families</li><li>
Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment</li><li>
Ability to manage multiple students and instructional priorities simultaneously</li><li>
Ability to support diverse learners with varying literacy needs</li><li>
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills</li><li>
Experience with digital learning platforms (e.g., Canvas, Zoom, Google Workspace, and literacy intervention tools)</li><li>
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships</li><li>
Strong organizational and data-tracking skills</li></ul>

Expected working hours include attendance in the tutoring lab Monday&ndash;Thursday from 1:30&ndash;3:30 p.m. MT and Friday from 10:00 a.m.&ndash;12:00 p.m. MT. Additional student meetings will be scheduled based on intervention plans and MTSS recommendations.</li><li>
