POSITION SUMMARY
The Access Services and Assessment Librarian at the J.W. Long Library is responsible for managing all areas of Access Services, including circulation, course reserves, interlibrary loan, and consortial borrowing and lending (Summit). Additionally, the librarian coordinates the implementation of a comprehensive and strategic assessment program within the J.W. Long Library, in consultation with the Director. The incumbent will supervise a team of approximately 15 student employees who work at the Law Library Circulation Desk, and is responsible for monitoring library use and security. The incumbent plans, communicates and implements policies and procedures to support Access Services, and coordinates with the Director to design and implement the assessment program. This position requires working occasional evening and weekend shifts when classes are in session.
In all areas of responsibility, the incumbent of this position safeguards the confidentiality of departmental and/or office administration by exercising discretion in communicating information to faculty, students and staff, and handling departmental records and files, personnel actions, performance evaluations, and similar confidential materials. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Provides a well-balanced media center, containing materials in all formats, equipment, and a program of services which enhances and supports the school's educational goals and objectives by providing accessto information and ideas for students, faculty, and staff, under the supervision of the Principal. Provides leadership and expertise in maintaining a school library media program, serving as teacher and instructional partner, program manager, and information specialist. The librarian is responsible for working collaboratively with school administration and staff to develop a library program that supports the curriculum; provides instructional leadership for the promotion of literacy; develops and maintains a media center collection rich in both print and digital materials; and manages the media center as a flexible, dynamic learning environment. 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</div><ul><li>
Master's degree in Education or Library Science</li><li>
Valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate and Library Media Specialist Endorsement</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team situation</li><li>
Effective communication skills</li></ul><div>
