Primary teaching responsibilities include delivering instruction for beginning through advanced level courses in wood and metal working, mixed-media sculpture, hand-built and wheel-thrown ceramics, and foundational 3D Art concepts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and functional sculpture studio which houses a ceramics working area, wood shop, kiln room, project storage area, outdoor work space, and more.</li><li>
Work with individual students and groups of students in planned, interactive, hands-on visual art classes. Classes may include 3D mediums ceramics, sculpture, drawing, photography, or graphic design.</li><li>
Communicate both concrete and abstract visual arts concepts to students.</li><li>
Prepare learning activities in an environment that fosters collaboration, inquiry, innovation, and personal discovery.</li><li>
Adapt and differentiate teaching methods and instructional material to meet students' varying needs, abilities, and interests.</li><li>
Demonstrate a willingness to collaborate within the Art department, school community, and greater community on multidisciplinary projects and initiatives.</li><li>

<li>Act as test administrator for the North Carolina Test Program and fulfills requirements as designated in the North Carolina School Test Coordinator's Handbook, the Proctor's Guide for the North Carolina Testing Program and the North Carolina State Board of Education Policy GCS-A-010</li>
<li>Observe and assess students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical needs on a regular basis</li>
<li>Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress, determine priorities and resource needs, and encourage parent involvement. Confer with parents/guardians, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic challenges</li>
<li>Prepare and implement enrichment programs and remediation</li>
<li>Attend Professional Learning Community (PLC) and staff meetings for data analysis and instructional planning</li>
<li>Participate in professional development focused on the acquiring and improving skills and knowledge</li>
<li>Perform safety functions/drills to maintain a safe instructional environment. Take all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities</li>
