Position Snapshot</b></p>
<p>
Atwell is hiring an Electrical &amp; Instrumentation Engineer with oil and gas experience to support natural gas, CO₂, hydrogen, RNG, and midstream pipeline/facility projects. This role will focus on electrical power distribution, instrumentation, controls coordination, equipment specification, and construction support for pipeline and facility projects.</p>

You'll support E&amp;I engineering from concept through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning while coordinating with multi-discipline project teams to ensure safe, compliant, practical, and constructible designs.</p>
<p><b>
Essential Functions</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Lead and support electrical and instrumentation engineering tasks for oil and gas pipeline and facility projects.</li>
<li>Provide technical guidance to designers, engineers, and project teams while reviewing and implementing client-requested design changes.</li>
<li>Serve as a technical liaison with clients, EPC partners, vendors, internal teams, and construction personnel.</li>
<li>Support project execution by communicating scope, schedule, technical requirements, risks, and design changes.</li>
<li>Mentor junior engineers and designers while promoting collaboration across civil, mechanical, structural, process, controls, and survey teams.</li>
<li>Maintain and apply E&amp;I best practices, industry standards, client requirements, and Atwell design procedures.</li>
<li>Travel to client sites, Atwell offices, vendor facilities, and active jobsites as needed.</li>

<p><b>Education</b></p>

<li>Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.</li>
<li>Professional Engineer license preferred, or ability to obtain based on state and project requirements.</li>
<li>Oil and gas, midstream, pipeline, industrial, or facility engineering experience strongly preferred.</li>

<p><b>Day to Day</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Act as an E&amp;I engineering resource for pipeline and facility projects, including compressor stations, meter and regulator stations, terminals, valve sites, pump stations, and related midstream facilities.</li>
<li>Develop and review electrical and instrumentation design deliverables, including one-lines, load lists, cable and conduit schedules, grounding plans, area classification, lighting, heat trace, I/O lists, loop drawings, and instrument location plans.</li>
<li>Coordinate with process and mechanical teams on P&amp;IDs, equipment layouts, instrumentation requirements, control narratives, and package equipment interfaces.</li>
<li>Prepare and review equipment specifications and data sheets for switchgear, MCCs, transformers, panels, VFDs, generators, UPS systems, instrumentation, analyzers, PLC/RTU panels, SCADA, telecom, and related E&amp;I equipment.</li>
<li>Perform or review electrical studies such as short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, voltage drop, motor starting, cable sizing, and grounding calculations using SKM, ETAP, or similar software.</li>
<li>Support procurement through RFP packages, vendor bid evaluations, technical clarifications, equipment reviews, and coordination with suppliers.</li>
<li>Provide construction and commissioning support, including RFIs, submittal reviews, FAT/SAT support, punch lists, startup planning, energization support, and field issue resolution.</li>
<li>Review project deliverables for compliance with applicable codes, client standards, company procedures, and project requirements.</li>
<li>Coordinate with internal teams including Development, Engineering, Permitting, GIS, Land, Survey, and Construction to support project scope, schedule, and budget.</li>
<li>Maintain organized calculations, design files, QA/QC documentation, change logs, and project records.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Preferred Tools &amp; Experience</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience with SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or similar electrical analysis software.</li>
<li>Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and related design/documentation tools.</li>
<li>Familiarity with PLC/RTU systems, SCADA, telecom, control panels, instrumentation, and control system integration.</li>
<li>Experience supporting electrical and instrumentation design for compressor stations, meter stations, pump stations, terminals, valve sites, pipeline facilities, or industrial facilities.</li>
<li>Field experience supporting installation, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and startup in operating facilities.</li>
<li>Consulting, EPC, or owner/operator experience within oil and gas, midstream, hydrogen, CO₂, RNG, or industrial energy projects preferred.</li>

Instrumentation & Controls Engineer 3 - Nuclear

<div>Description:
<p>
Nuclear Power is a carbon-free energy source. Our nuclear power generation clients are digitizing their existing power plants and building new nuclear power plants, small modular reactors (SMR) due to the increasing demand for electric power. This is expanding our work in the Instrumentation and Controls Engineering group. Due to this influx of work, Sargent &amp; Lundy has a need for additional I&amp;C Engineers.</p><p></p><p><br>
This I&amp;C position offers the opportunity to work on upgrading and modernizing nuclear power plants with the latest control technologies the industry offers. You will be expected to both lead and support small and large controls projects with a focus on technical execution and effective Project Management. These projects will require coordination with mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines to bring the project to completion. You work will include investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving a wide variety of controls engineering issues, including the following:</p>
Develop Digital Systems Design <ul><li>- PLC, DCS, HSI, networked computer systems.</li><li>
Prepare control system functional and implementation requirements and procurement specifications for nuclear plant control systems.</li><li>
Interface with the client to ensure proper project execution and client satisfaction.</li><li>
Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and studies to present information in a clear and concise manner to meet client requirements.</li><li>
Manage resources/resource loading and develop estimates for task completion and budget development.</li><li>
Support the development of proposals.</li><li>
Prepare and review diagrams and drawings for new and upgraded controls solutions.</li><li>
Evaluate vendor bids from a technical perspective.</li><li>
Interface with vendors to perform document reviews, ensure equipment compliance with specifications and needs of the plant, and witness FAT performance on behalf of the client.</li><li>
Support implementation of the project at the client&rsquo;s facilities.</li></ul>
Qualifications:

Essential skills and experience:</div><ul><li>
BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an ABET accredited program.</li><li>
12 or more years of experience in the design engineering of instrumentation and controls systems in a project team environment for commercial, industrial applications, with a focus on integrated and detailed system design modifications.</li><li>
Professional Engineering license is preferred.</li><li>
Ability to clearly communicate both in speech and written formats.</li><li>
Technically knowledgeable of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems to execute systems design.</li><li>
Experience with serving as the firm's client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.</li><li>
Experience in reviewing design documentation.</li></ul><div></div><div><br>
