Essential Functions &amp; Responsibilities :

Electrical &amp; Instrumentation Technician
 
As an Electrical &amp; Instrumentation Technician you will be responsible for completing preventative maintenance work and answering emergency calls related to any plant instrumentation or electrical issues. This role will manage the facility&rsquo;s Continuous Emissions Monitoring equipment and will be responsible for completing weekly, monthly and annual inspections.

The Sanitation Districts clean the wastewater of over 5 million people and turn it into resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Through the operation of 11 wastewater treatment facilities, approximately 510 million gallons per day (MGD) of wastewater are treated at these facilities and 165 MGD are available for reuse. The San Jose Creek Water Reclamation Plant (WRP) currently provides primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment for a design capacity of 100 million gallons of wastewater per day (MGD) and serves a large residential population of approximately 1,000,000 people. 
 
We are now recruiting for skilled Wastewater Treatment Electricians ( Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians) at our San Jose Creek WRP located in Whittier, California . This is a u nique opportunity to work on primary/secondary/tertiary treatment, solids processing, UV disinfection, and advanced water treatment all at one facility. T he essential functions of this position are to perform progressively more skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation, computer process control, and electrical equipment and systems. 
 
This position operates on a 9/80 work schedule of Monday through Thursday (6:30am-4:00pm) and the working Friday (6:30am-3:00pm). Regular Days Off (RDO) are alternating Fridays. Occasional after-hours work, overtime, and weekend call-backs may be required and will be compensated accordingly. Twelve units of college course work or completion of one year of a two-year degree or certification program in instrumentation, electronics or electrical technology, or a closely related field may substitute for one year of the required experience -OR- Completion of a two-year degree or certification program in instrumentation, electronics or electrical technology, or a closely related field for two years of the required experience.

RETIREMENT 
 
<ul><li>CALPERS: The Districts belong to the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), and all monthly status new hires will be enrolled in CalPERS. Most new hires will be enrolled in the defined benefit formula of 2% @ 62 in accordance with the Public Employees&rsquo; Pension Reform Act (PEPRA) and are required to contribute to the plan (7.75% for the 24/25 fiscal year). COMPENSATION

HEALTH INSURANCE

 <ul><li>DENTAL: Districts paid. Employees can choose from prepaid and indemnity dental plans. The Districts pay the full premium for employee and dependent coverage. LEAVE TIME

The Sanitation Districts protect public health and the environment through innovative and cost-effective wastewater and solid waste management, and in doing, so convert waste into resources such as recycled water, energy and recycled materials.
ORGANIZATION
The Sanitation Districts function on a regional scale and consist of 24 independent special districts serving about 5.5 million people in Los Angeles County. The service area covers approximately 824 square miles and encompasses 78 cities and unincorporated territory within the county.
GETTING THE JOB DONE
The Sanitation Districts were created in 1923 when a significant number of cities were forming and it was clear that managing wastewater on a regional scale made sense. The Sanitation Districts' purpose was to construct, operate, and maintain facilities that collect, treat, recycle, and dispose of domestic and industrial wastewater. Individual districts operate and maintain the district-owned collection systems. Cities and unincorporated areas within a district are responsible for their smaller local collection systems.
Cities and unincorporated parts of the county are also responsible for the collection of solid waste. In the 1950s, it became apparent that solid waste management would benefit from a regional approach. At that time, the Sanitation Districts were given the responsibility to provide for the management of collected solid waste, including disposal and transfer operations, and materials and energy recovery.
To maximize efficiency and reduce costs, the 24 Sanitation Districts work cooperatively under a Joint Administration Agreement with one administrative staff headquartered near the City of Whittier. Each Sanitation District has a Board of Directors consisting of the mayor of each city and the Chair of the Board of Supervisors for unincorporated territory. The Instrument and Electrical Technician I installs and maintains instrumentation and electrical equipment in compliance with company rules, safety procedures, and operational practices. This position supports field electrical maintenance activities and performs electrical isolation procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), for lighting, HVAC systems, motors, and other electrical equipment. 
The role works closely with operations, engineering, and project teams to ensure electrical and instrumentation systems operate safely and efficiently within oil and gas facilities.
Responsibilities 
<ul><li>Plan, update, and oversee work activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and safety procedures with strong emphasis on health, safety, and environmental protection</li><li>Support collaboration between operations, engineering, and project teams</li><li>Review and provide input on electrical and control specifications and work practices</li><li>Maintain accountability for electrical and control systems as defined in the Work Management Manual</li><li>Apply and follow work permits through the Permit To Work System (PTWS)</li><li>Ensure timely and high-quality completion of work scheduled through the maintenance program</li><li>Continue development of personal and team technical skills related to equipment, regulations, and maintenance methods</li><li>Participate in and facilitate technical meetings to keep technicians informed on procedures, specifications, and technology updates</li><li>Maintain open communication regarding electrical and control system issues including safety practices and training</li><li>Support work prioritization to maximize operational effectiveness and coordination between work groups</li><li>Provide technical troubleshooting and maintenance support to other technicians working on instrumentation and electrical systems</li><li>Generate Management of Change (MOC) requests for electrical or control equipment modifications and support installation inspections aligned with Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) Element 3</li><li>Inspect and monitor new installations to ensure consistency with operational standards and recommend improvements when necessary</li><li>Serve as backup for the Instrument and Electrical Lead when required</li></ul>
Skills &amp; Qualifications 
<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent required, technical training preferred</li><li>Experience maintaining electrical systems and instrumentation within processing plants or offshore production facilities</li></ul>
General Technical Knowledge 
<ul><li>Familiarity with regulations governing oil and gas facility operations</li><li>Knowledge of OIMS systems, manuals, and procedures</li></ul>
Specific Technical Skills 
<ul><li>Meets safety, administrative, and technical training requirements outlined in the company operations training roadmap</li><li>Demonstrates required Operations Integrity Critical competencies</li><li>Basic computing and documentation skills</li></ul>
