This position contributes directly to risk assessment, service quality, and underwriting workflow execution while continuing to build underwriting expertise.</p><p>Essential Duties / Responsibilities:</p><ul><li>Review and evaluate new business and renewal commercial auto submissions under direction of underwriting leadership.</li><li>Analyze underwriting information, including loss history, vehicle details, coverage requests, and exposure data.</li><li>Assist in determining appropriate underwriting terms and conditions in accordance with established guidelines.</li><li>Ensure submissions and underwriting files are complete, accurate, and compliant with company and carrier requirements.</li><li>Enter and maintain underwriting data within policy and underwriting systems.</li><li>Communicate with agents and internal teams regarding submission requirements, underwriting questions, and status updates.</li><li>Support endorsement, renewal, audit, and policy issuance processes as assigned.</li><li>Escalate complex, higher‑risk, or out‑of‑guideline submissions to senior Underwriters or the Underwriting Manager.</li><li>Monitor underwriting workflow queues and assist with turnaround time management.</li><li>Maintain awareness of underwriting guidelines, carrier updates, and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Contribute to underwriting consistency and adherence to internal standards.</li></ul><p>Knowledge / Skills / Abilities (KSA&rsquo;s):</p><ul><li>Underwriting Knowledge &mdash; Working understanding of commercial auto and trucking insurance underwriting principles, coverages, and documentation requirements.</li><li>Risk Analysis &mdash; Ability to review and assess basic risk characteristics and identify factors requiring escalation.</li><li>Attention to Detail &mdash; Demonstrates accuracy and consistency in underwriting review, documentation, and data entry.</li><li>Compliance Awareness &mdash; Understands the importance of following underwriting guidelines, carrier requirements, and regulatory standards.</li><li>Communication Skills &mdash; Communicates clearly and professionally with agents, service teams, and underwriting leadership.</li><li>Written Communication &mdash; Prepares clear underwriting notes, file documentation, and correspondence.</li><li>Organizational Skills &mdash; Manages multiple submissions and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.</li><li>Judgment &mdash; Recognizes limits of authority and escalates appropriately when risk or complexity exceeds role scope.</li><li>Technical Proficiency &mdash; Comfortable using underwriting and policy management systems to support daily work.</li><li>Team Collaboration &mdash; Works effectively with Underwriting, Service, Claims, and Operations teams.</li><li>Professionalism &amp; Ethics &mdash; Maintains confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity in all underwriting activities.</li><li>Dependability &mdash; Meets deadlines and follows through on assigned underwriting responsibilities.</li><li>Initiative &mdash; Demonstrates willingness to learn, expand underwriting knowledge, and take on additional responsibility.</li></ul><p>Minimum Qualifications:</p><p>Required:</p><ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience</li><li>2&ndash;4 years of experience in insurance underwriting, underwriting support, or related roles</li><li>Familiarity with commercial auto or trucking insurance products</li><li>Basic understanding of underwriting guidelines and risk assessment principles</li><li>Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills</li><li>Proficiency with underwriting systems and Microsoft Office</li><li>Authorized to work in the United States</li></ul><p>Preferred:</p><ul><li>Experience within a trucking, transportation, or commercial auto underwriting environment</li><li>Prior experience in an MGA or specialty insurance setting</li><li>Progress toward professional designations (e.g., AU, CPCU coursework)</li><li>Demonstrated interest in continued underwriting career development</li></ul><p>Physical Demands and Work Environment:</p><ul><li>Continually required to sit for extended periods</li><li>Moderate to high noise level consistent with a busy office environment</li><li>On‑site position</li><li>Office‑based with standard business hours</li><li>Limited travel may be required for training or internal meetings</li></ul><p>Pay: $65,000.00 per year</p><p>Work Location: In person</p>
