This position will report to, and coordinate with, the Access Services Librarian to create department policies, procedures, training, and customer service goals. <b>Essential Duties and Responsibilities
</b><ul><li>Coordinate desk schedules, standardize training, and implement the Access Services Librarian's daily operational vision for the department by providing leadership to the department staff and student assistants. Serve as point of contact for night and weekend staff and be available during those hours as needed; work occasional night or weekend shifts as assigned.</li><li>
Oversee the department's physical environment, including desk materials, backroom organization, etc.</li><li>
Directly supervise the following staff: Student Assistant Supervisor, Evening Coordinator, Course Reserve Specialist, Stacks Supervisor, and the portion of OLT Technology Desk staff assigned to AUS.</li><li>
Indirectly supervise the student assistants as the daytime backup for scheduling, desk coverage, shift needs, and other related matters.</li><li>

Manage the collection of statistical data on the department's activities, submit data as appropriate and prepare reports as needed. Oversee the staff responsible for AUS LibInsight data collection, management, and usage ensuring accuracy, consistency, and proper collation by both staff and student assistants.</li><li>
Oversee collection use as it relates to patron holds, reserves, claims return, and other interactions, and support users' requests for new materials. Work with relevant departments (Library Admin, Technical Services, etc.) to ensure the smooth delivery of these functions.</li><li>
Oversee all AUS webpages for uniformity, accuracy, and design aesthetics. Ensure compliance with accessibility standards. Work with Webmaster to handle technical aspects of updating AUS webpages. Serve as primary AUS web designer and liaison for changes to the department's pages.</li><li>
Serve as the AUS emergency coordinator. Maintain thorough understanding of building policies and procedures and ensure staff are consistently trained to respond effectively. Serve as primary contact for any patron or building-related issues reported at the desk and prepare and organize incident reports for the department as needed. Represent the department as its B.E.A.P representative. Collaborate with Access Services Librarian/Library Administration on matters involving building hours, safety, weather-related responses, security, or other operational issues as the arise.</li><li>
Work on-site five days per week. Daily work hours may vary and remain flexible to meet departmental needs.</li><li>
Serve as the primary point of contact for AUS and building-related issues during all hours that Ekstrom Library is open. This position also serves as the main backup for night, weekend, and emergency shifts assigned by the Access Services Librarian. Remote work is not eligible for this role.</li></ul><b>

About the Position:</b></p><p>
As a part of the Resource Sharing team, the Specialist reports to the Operations Manager for Resource Sharing &amp; Digital Delivery. The Specialist primarily processes items borrowed from and loaned to other libraries, helps identify and discover materials held by other libraries for Stanford patrons, processes borrowing, lending, and digital delivery requests, scans/creates PDFs of book chapters and journal articles for Stanford patrons and other institutions, and provides customer service, phone, and email support for Stanford patrons and other libraries. The Specialist will learn to use a variety of resource sharing and library service platforms to do their work.</p><p>
In addition, the Specialist will be assigned service desk shifts and assist customers with library inquiries. The Specialist develops broad knowledge about library services, policies, and resources.
