Job Description 
This position is eligible for an additional sign-on bonus.
The General Physician provides comprehensive on-site medical care for patients at the assigned facility, including diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and continuity of care for acute, urgent, emergent, and chronic conditions. The role functions as the on-site medical authority within the scope of services provided and is responsible for delivering care that meets applicable detention standards, accreditation standards, community standards of care, and contract requirements.
This position supports patient health through intake screening, history and physical examination, diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, medication management, referral review, emergency response, daily clinical oversight, and coordination of follow-up care. The Physician also supports quality improvement, recordkeeping, confidentiality, training, and compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, licensure, credentialing, and medical practice privilege requirements.
Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Provide direct patient care within physician scope of practice in accordance with licensure, certification, granted privileges, and currently accepted standards of medical practice.</li><li>
Serve as the on-site medical authority within the scope of services provided.</li><li>
Develop and coordinate healthcare delivery activities at the assigned facility.</li><li>
Conduct patient histories, physical examinations, and initial and follow-up assessments for acute and chronic medical conditions.</li><li>
Ensure initial medical screening is completed within required timeframes and that full health assessments, including history and physical examination, are completed within required timeframes unless earlier evaluation is clinically indicated.</li><li>

As the hospitalist team, facilitate the transition of care from the ED to inpatient cardiology services. Focus on the caring for hospitalized patients to manage care and length of stay, improve resource utilization and decrease costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care. On the cardiology consult service, evaluate and manage cardiology consult inpatients and work with the primary team to facilitate appropriate care, including cardiac catheterization, and medication therapy. Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP):<ul><li>A Master&rsquo;s degree is required. A Master&rsquo;s degree in Nursing is preferred. If a Master&rsquo;s degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.</li><li>Current certification in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.</li><li>Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa is required.</li></ul>
Required Qualifications:<ul><li>
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.</li><li>
Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in area of Internal Medicine clinical practice or previous experience in specified hospital specialty area or demonstrated knowledge of area of clinical practice is required.</li><li>
Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.</li></ul>
Desired Qualifications:<ul><li>
Experience providing overall medical care and provide medical management for adult patients in a General Internal Medicine inpatient setting is highly desirable.</li><li>
Experience exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided is highly desirable.</li><li>
Experience managing length of stay, improve resource utilization and decrease costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care is highly desirable.</li><li>
Experience with the evaluation and treatment of General Internal Medicine patients and the supervision of General Internal Medicine procedures is highly desirable.</li></ul>

What You'll Do
<ul>
<li>Serve as the attending physician for patients in each assigned SNF.</li>
<li>Collaborate with NPs/PAs to manage daily patient care and oversee clinical supervision.</li>
<li>Provide high-quality, patient-centered primary care, including diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions.</li>
<li>Participate in Theoria's Chronic Care Management, Transitional Care, Remote Patient Monitoring, and other quality initiatives.</li>
</ul>
Your Qualifications

Physicians (MD/DO) must hold an active U.S. medical license and be board-certified or board-eligible in an appropriate specialty. New graduates who are board-eligible and actively pursuing licensing are encouraged to apply. Qualified specialties include but not limited to Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Geriatric Medicine.
