Job Description</h2>
Diversified Maintenance is hiring a Janitor. The Janitor position is responsible for performing all-purpose cleaning and preservation of assigned area inside a particular building or multiple client sites. Exact tasks of janitorial crew are not definite, consequently, must be flexible in performing assigned duties per client's specifications. 
SCHEDULE: Full Time 
PAY RATE: Starting at $11.00 per hour 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul><li>Maintain and clean all floor surfaces, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming</li>
<li>Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and other objects</li>
<li>Clean, monitor and maintain restrooms, meeting rooms, corridors, and entrance areas</li>
<li>Empty trash cans for proper disposal; use of compactor for certain materials</li>
<li>Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaners and equipment</li>
<li>Spot clean carpets; assist in carpet extractions and shampooing</li>
<li>Replenish paper products and sanitary supplies</li>
<li>Follow housekeeping schedule</li>
<li>Occasionally use heavy cleaning equipment, such as floor scrubbers, backpack vacuums, and buffers</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned, as required by the scope of work or customer needs</li></ul>
QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):
<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent, or a minimum of six (6) months of experience in a janitorial type position</li>
<li>On the job training will be provided</li>
<li>Attention to detail</li>
<li>Ability to follow instructions effectively</li></ul>
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):
<ul><li>Prior cleaning or janitorial experience</li>
<li>Familiarity with custodial practices and commercial cleaning standards</li>

<div>YMCA of the North is seeking custodial support staff to uphold standards in cleaning, janitorial services, and general building maintenance. Hours include evening shifts Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Team members enjoy a free YMCA of the North membership and discounts on YMCA programs. 

The salary range of this position is $ 16.50. We take into consideration an individual&rsquo;s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package for full-time includes a wide range of benefits (medical, dental, life, disability, and more) as well as generous paid time off and free membership. Part-time benefits will vary. 

1. Job Summary:

The Custodian II is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the areas assigned. The incumbent is accountable for the completions of assigned duties with a minimum level of supervision. Duties include, but are not limited to, mopping, dusting, trash removal, window washing, meeting set up, pool cleaning, snow removal, lawn care, and other general cleaning responsibilities. The incumbent interacts positively with members and staff and responds to requests personally or informs the appropriate maintenance staff member. Member service is the incumbent&rsquo;s main objective while demonstrating the YMCA core values: honesty, responsibility, caring, equity and respect at all times. 
 
 
2. Essential Functions:
<ul><li>
Complete all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintain daily upkeep of assigned area and equipment.</li><li>
Perform janitorial duties which include, but are not limited to, wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, meeting set up, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning as requested or needed.</li><li>
Record all needed repairs, repair as directed, report ALL repairs to supervisor, and follow up with staff.</li><li>
Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.</li><li>
Clean up of blood or body fluids which could contain bloodborne pathogens.</li><li>
Operate motorized equipment used for cleaning.</li></ul> 

3. Relationships:

This position reports to the Custodial Supervisor who reports to the Executive Director. Work closely with staff to ensure that the Association standards of cleanliness are being met and attend all relevant training programs available. 

4. Qualifications:

Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents</li><li>
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing if needed</li><li>
Must be able and willing to develop:</li><li>
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment</li><li>
Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of the equipment used for cleaning</li><li>
Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use</li><li>
Willingness to learn and share new and better methods of cleaning</li></ul> 

5. Work Conditions:
<ul><li>
Move up to 50 pounds of project materials and/or tools to remote building locations up to 200 feet away.</li><li>
Erecting and standing on scaffolding, ladders, and platforms.</li><li>
Work at heights up to 30 feet for extended periods of time.</li><li>
Work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.</li><li>
Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed</li><li>
Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.</li><li>
Ability to report and record maintenance requests on work board.</li><li>
Perform essential housekeeping to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi &ndash; reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.</li><li>
Ability to perform tasks outdoor in different climate.</li><li>
Safely operate cleaning equipment: auto scrubber, buffer, snow blower, sweeper, trash compactor, lift, pressure washer, box compactor, hand and power tools.</li><li>
Must be able to respond to emergency/on-call situations.</li></ul>
