YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS<div><div><ul>
Bachelors, Master&rsquo;s or PhD level degree in a discipline such as: computer science, machine learning, applied statistics, mathematics, engineering or artificial intelligence
7+ years of experience in software development, with significant full-stack web application development experience strongly preferred
Experience working collaboratively with technical and non-technical team members and stakeholders
Hands-on experience and willingness to learn across frontend (TypeScript, React, Angular, Vue, Next.js, Tailwind), backend (Python, Node.js, Java/Spring, C#/.NET), and databases (SQL, NoSQL, vector databases, ETL)
Experience with LLM frameworks, prompt orchestration, agent frameworks, MCPs, evaluation frameworks, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), including Docker and CI/CD
Strong focus on automated testing, logging, monitoring, and overall system reliability
Experience modeling and coaching others to use engineering best practices such as design patterns, customer-centric design, test-driven development, code refactoring, code review, and OWASP Top 10 security awareness
Experience leading in Agile teams, including coaching and modeling Agile mindsets as part of sprint ceremonies, work definition and building developer capabilities

 We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join the Batch team within the Global Intelligence Platforms organisation, where you will play a central role in building and evolving Mobius - our internal unified analytics and data platform that powers data workloads at scale across Just Eat Takeaway.
 
 
 Mobius is a Kubernetes-native, declarative data platform that abstracts away infrastructure complexity so that data engineers across the business can provision and manage batch and streaming pipelines through a simple, expressive API. As part of the Batch team, you will own the components that make this a reality for batch processing.
 
 
 We're looking for someone who can live our behaviours of lead, deliver and care, bring fresh ideas, challenge the status quo, and push for bold, creative solutions to drive the Just Eat Takeaway vision forward.

 Design, build, and continuously improve batch and data processing pipelines on the Mobius platform, holding yourself and the team to a high standard of reliability and maintainability.

 Contribute to the evolution of Mobius platform capabilities, helping shape architecture decisions that scale with the organisation's growing data needs.
 </li>
 <li>
 Partner closely with internal teams to understand their data requirements, translating them into well-engineered, production-ready solutions.
 </li>
 <li>
 Champion data quality and governance by defining and maintaining data contracts, metadata, and lineage across the pipelines you own.
 </li>
 <li>
 Set up and own observability for data workloads - monitoring, alerting, and logging - and lead incident response when things don't go to plan.
 </li>
 <li>
 Participate actively in code reviews, raising the bar for engineering standards and sharing knowledge generously across the team.
 </li>
 <li>
 Collaborate across Global Intelligence Platforms org and with external teams to ensure Mobius delivers real, measurable value to the business.

 Identify and drive improvements to tooling, processes, and developer experience, making it easier for teams to build on top of Mobius with confidence.

 Contribute to team planning and prioritisation, helping to break down complex problems into clear, achievable goals that keep the team moving forward.

 What will you bring to the team?

 Strong coding skills (Python/Java/Scala), with a track record of building and maintaining reliable, production-grade data pipelines at scale.
 </li>
 <li>
 Confident working with Kubernetes-native platforms to deploy and operate data workloads across cloud environments. Knowledge of Golang is a strong advantage.
 </li>
 <li>
 Hands-on experience with data transformation tools such as Spark and DBT, with a focus on building well-tested, maintainable data products.
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity with Apache Iceberg table format and schema management via catalogs such as AWS Glue, with an appreciation for data quality and consistency.
 </li>
 <li>
 Solid grounding in core AWS data and messaging services (S3, Glue ETL, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, Redis) and how they fit together in modern data architectures.
 </li>
 <li>
 Proficiency in SQL and experience querying large-scale datasets with engines such as Athena to surface insights for internal and external partners.
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience orchestrating and scheduling data workflows, with an understanding of pipeline dependency management principles (e.g., Airflow).
 </li>
 <li>
 Comfortable establishing monitoring, logging, and alerting for data pipelines to drive operational excellence and fast incident response.
 </li>
 <li>
 An appreciation for data governance - including metadata management and data contracts - as a foundation for responsible, trustworthy data products.
