Essential Duties:
<ul><li>Thoroughly analyze specifications, building plans, and shop drawings to identify necessary work aids and meticulously plan the installation sequence for optimal efficiency.</li><li>
Ensure the work area is consistently clean and organized, strictly adhering to safety regulations to uphold the principles of 6S. Regularly inspect and utilize personal tools, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), and safety gear for a secure working environment.</li><li>
Sets up equipment and welding parts using arc, submerged arc, gas-shielded arc, mig and tig machines. Helps plumbers, pipefitters, welders, sheet metal workers, or HVAC workers as needed.</li><li>
Inspects the structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of the structure resulting from the installation of pipe. Lays out and marks position of pipe and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors using ruler, level, square and laser.</li><li>
Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and fittings using hand and power tools. Installs sleeves and openings for roof and wall penetrations. Helps excavate, backfill and tamp ditches using shovels, picks and tampers. Helps cut, ream, solder, braze, fuse, solvent weld, groove, thread pipe and pressfittings using measuring tools, pipe cutters, torches, beveling machines, reamers, bolts, screws, fittings, alloys, gaskets, solvent cement, fusing machine, groove and pipe-threading machines.</li><li>
Lays-out, positions, aligns, fits, tack-welds, assembles and installs valves, hangers, pipe and fittings composed of metals such as iron, steel, aluminum, brass, copper and nonmetals such as fiberglass and plastic using hand tools, roustabouts, grasshoppers, come-alongs, chin falls and power tools. Bends pipe by hand or with a pipe-bending machine. Fills pipe systems with water or air to determine system leaks. Installs, maintains and repairs air-conditioning and refrigeration systems including compressors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic controls and piping and similar mechanical accessories.</li></ul>
Minimum Requirements:

Possession of a High School Diploma or GED is preferred.</div><div>
4+ years as a Pipefitter Journeyman preferred.</div><div>
Trained and qualified to operate machinery such as scissor lifts, aerial lifts, fork lifts, etc.</div></div><div></div>

 We perform maintenance and modernization on all classes of major surface vessels, including CVN, CG, and DDG, as well as amphibious ships such as LHD, LHA, LSD, LPD, and auxiliary ships. Our work spans a full range of Combatant, Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Habitability systems, supporting the readiness and mission success of the U.S. Fleet.</p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>
Position Specifics</b></h2><p>
The Pipefitter is responsible for proper removal, and/or installation of various piping systems. This includes cutting, grinding, and prepping multiple sizes and material types of pipe. The Pipefitter must have the ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and sketches, and have an understanding of the different joint designs IAW with MIL-STD -22D, and basic knowledge of MIL-STD-777F, and NSTP-278. In addition the Pipefitter must be able to obtain a Silver Braze certification, and have a general knowledge of the hazards associated with opening tanks and voids, including the installation of proper blanks and plugs to obtain Gas Free status. The Pipefitter must also have the ability to accomplish all required testing (hydrostatic,operational, etc.) IAW shipboard procedures.</p><ul><li>

Installs various types of insulation and pipe covering; safely removes and properly discards of old coverings according to hazardous waste procedures and in accordance with company procedures.</li><li>
Inspects pipes, testing for pressure and leaks; reports and/or resolves problems.</li><li>
Maintains records, including safety logs and inspection details.</li><li>
Targets piping in shop for re-installation onboard the ship.</li><li>
Ensures daily clean-up of work site at end of each day.</li><li>

Minimum Requirements</b></h2><ul><li>
The ability to read and understand basic work specs, drawings, and diagrams.</li><li>
Demonstrated knowledge of ship board piping systems.</li><li>
Understands ship board terminology utilizing MIL-SPEC and NAVSEA references.</li><li>
Demonstrated understanding of basic reading and mathematics is required for fit-up, lay-out, and fabrication of piping systems.</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to identify multiple types of fittings, and what they are used for.</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to identify different piping systems based off of abbreviations commonly used onboard the ship.</li><li>
Demonstrated understanding of TAC numbers used to identify locations throughout the ship.</li><li>
Maintains a silver braze qualification for CuNi (copper-nickel) piping systems onboard ships.</li><li>
Maintains fire-watch qualification.</li><li>
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.</li><li>

Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Shop, shipboard, warehouse, industrial environment.</li><li>
