Responsible for the daily operations of the Court Clerk&rsquo;s Office, including: overseeing the maintenance of all case files, dealing with the public, in-court clerk duties, and ensuring that all cases efficiently flow through the judicial system.</div>
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs general office duties, including answering phones, greeting court patrons, filing, data entry and other clerical duties and responsibilities.</li><li>
Provides clerical support to the Court Administrator, Judge and presenting officer/prosecutor as requested and necessary. Drafts documents for the Judge as directed.</li><li>
Maintains courtroom so that it is clean, presentable and safe.</li><li>
Maintains all court files.</li><li>
Receives and post daily mail in a timely manner.</li><li>
Provides necessary paperwork for court customers.</li><li>
Coordinates with Finance department for receiving fines and fees paid into the registry of the Tribal Court.</li><li>
Attends and records assigned hearings and performs required in-court clerk functions; including assisting judges perform their in-court duties.</li><li>
Creates archive list for closed court files. Sends and retrieves files to and from archives.</li><li>
Gathers and keeps yearly case statistics as assigned by the Court Administrator.</li><li>
Oversees the scheduling and tracking of all cases in the Court, maintaining court dockets, and court calendars.</li><li>
Carries out procedures for convening the Muckleshoot Court of Appeals.</li><li>
Ensures the proper transcription of trial court proceedings for use by the Court of Appeals.</li><li>
Applies and adheres to the Muckleshoot Code of Laws as well as the rules and procedures of the Tribal Court.</li><li>
Provides information and relevant documents to patrons of the court as requested and appropriate.</li><li>
Maintains and updates the Muckleshoot Code of Laws as changes are made. Provides copies to spokespersons, patrons and/or departments as appropriate.</li><li>
Because of the Tribe&rsquo;s commitment to community service and the well being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.</li></ul>
EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION:

High school diploma or equivalent <i>and </i>two years related work experience in a legal setting. Two years of college coursework may be substituted for the two years of experience. Current and valid Washington State Driver&rsquo;s license</div>

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:</b></p><p>
This is the second in a series of four court clerical-related job classifications within the Administrative Support job family. Incumbents perform duties of moderate complexity. This classification is distinguished from Court Clerk Assistant in that incumbents routinely review the work performed by the Court Clerk Assistant, perform fewer general clerical duties and require greater independent judgment. This classification is distinguished from Court Clerk II in that incumbents do not regularly perform the majority of their work in a court setting and do not function as lead workers or have regular supervisory duties.</p></div><p></p>

May provide notary services to public.</li><li>
Serves as liaison or primary point of contact with defendants, plaintiffs, families, judges, court personnel, Constable's Officers, attorneys, County and District Attorney's Office, law enforcement agencies, interested parties, and the general public regarding status, disposition, pending actions of individual cases and parties' actions. Assists public and departments on office policy and procedures. Responds to legal and administrative inquiries. Takes initial steps to resolve citizen complaints and ensures department policies and procedures are met. Provides technical advice and assistance regarding legal documents of all types.</li><li>
May assess fees and fines, receive payments, and perform as cashier for the office on a daily basis. Accepts monies in the form of cash, money orders and cashier checks and issues signed receipts. Conducts cash transactions as payments for warrants including entering credit card transactions and mail payments. Prepares bank deposits. Makes daily and monthly reports to reconcile receipts.</li><li>
Uses scanning software to input case information. Captures images and performs quality assurance. Scans incoming legal documents. Performs quality verification procedures on scanned documents prepared by co-workers. Assesses scanned electronic images for legibility, blank documents and missing records.</li><li>
Works closely with division managers on special projects. Conducts research inquiries in multiple databases. Updates legal files with pertinent information. May coordinate for off-site storage of records. Performs statistical analysis and produces activity reports.</li><li>
