<li>Performs case-flow functions across the full case-cycle including docket entry, entering new electronic and paper filings, sending notice, reviewing case documents for accuracy/completeness, preparing orders &amp; motions, scheduling events on court calendar.</li>
<li>Responsible for operating various tools to support both in-person and virtual court hearings.</li>
<li>Perform operator function during court hearings by providing high-speed docket entry and real-time processing in medium and high-volume settings.</li>
<li>Employ attention to detail and methodical approach to ensure standardized business practices are followed.</li>
<li>Respond to customer inquiries to assist with filling-out forms, using court kiosks, preparing for court appearances, and providing case information.</li>

<li>Collect fines and fees according to established procedure; close, balance and reconcile tills.</li>

GENERAL PURPOSE</b></p><p>
This position administers and supervises the clerical operations of Ogden Justice Court. Receives supervision and general direction from the Court Administrator. Directly supervises court clerks, deputy clerks, cashiers, and lower-level staff.
</p><p><b>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
</b></p><ul><li>Thoroughly understands and expertly performs all functions of a Justice Court Clerk and In Court Clerk.

</li><li>Daily accounting, involving reconciliation of monies taken, web payments, and reporting distribution of revenues to finance; ensuring that any bench warrants paid through the court's web payment program are recalled avoiding potential arrest on an invalid warrant.</li><li>
Track all bail posted at jails for new offenses and warrants; Finders checks; forfeiting and applying said bail; recalling warrants if appropriate; refunding bail to the person posting it or applying monies to public defender fees as ordered. Reconciliation of all trust funds.</li><li>
Monitoring and forfeiting bail bonds for defendants who fail to appear. Ensure bonding companies comply with state regulations to remit bail posted.</li><li>
Liaison with all local correctional facilities, sheriff, and bailiffs for transport. Key person in charge with trouble shooting these areas.</li><li>
Trouble shoot issues involving judges and city prosecutors to include policy changes, liaison with warrant officers regarding policy and procedural changes.</li><li>
Liaison with the Administrative Office of the Courts on accounting issues and changes in bail schedules.</li><li>

</li><li>Provides customer service information with a high volume of pro se litigants by providing general procedural information without giving legal advice.
</li><li>Uses the case management system to (1) open cases &ndash; determine case type/cause of action and assess and receipt filing fee if required; (2) docket cases &ndash; review documents and determine appropriate event codes, enter data, scan documents, and link related scanned images; and (3) close cases &ndash; determine and enter closing events, disposition type, and judgement details.
</li><li>Assesses, receipts, records, and reconciles monies, and prepares bank deposits; follows cash handling procedures.

(the Clerk anticipates filling up to three positions). The Courtroom Deputy is an employee of the clerk&rsquo;s office, whose duty station will be in Greensboro or Winston-Salem. The Courtroom Deputy will be assigned to a U.S. Judge located in the Greensboro or Winston-Salem Courthouse. Occasional travel to courthouses in Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and/or Durham may be required.</p><p><b>REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES </b></p><ul><li>Managing the judge&rsquo;s caseload by monitoring the filing of documents, responses, and deadlines; setting dates and times for trials, hearings, and other necessary matters; and assisting the judge and judicial staff with case progression.</li><li>Providing courtroom assistance by ensuring the orderly flow of proceedings, managing exhibits, assisting witnesses and jurors, and maintaining courtroom decorum.</li><li>Serving as a liaison among the clerk&rsquo;s office, the bar, and the judge to ensure that cases proceed smoothly and efficiently.</li></ul><p><b>QUALIFICATIONS </b></p><ul><li>Requires a minimum of three years specialized experience which provided knowledge of legal terminology and procedure that might be found in a law office or other court in the judicial system.</li><li>The successful candidate must have experience in a fast-paced and demanding environment with the ability to present a professional demeanor at all times.</li><li>The candidate must have excellent organizational, analytical, oral and written communication skills.</li><li>The ability to maintain confidential information and abide by Judiciary ethical standards is also required.</li><li>Case docketing experience, strong computer skills and knowledge of CM/ECF is desirable.</li><li>To be appointed at the CL 27 level, experience must include at least one year equivalent to work at the CL 26 level.</li></ul><p>*Preference will be given to applicants who have experience and judgment with legal documents, such as those which might be found in a law office or in another court in the judicial system, or prior paralegal experience.
