 The 1 st Judicial District of the Iowa Judicial Branch is seeking applicants for a Judicial Operations Clerk in the Dubuque County Clerk of Court Office, located in Dubuque, Iowa. This position provides clerical support and customer service to ensure efficient court operations and maintain the integrity of court records.

 <br/>
 This position is responsible for processing case-related documents such as orders, warrants, applications, motions, complaints, bonds, exhibits, and other official case and court-related documents and media to support accurate records and efficient court operations. This position will provide in-person and phone-based customer service to assist court users with requests pertaining to court-related matters, including assistance with case-related questions, processing and recording payments, and providing copies. This position also supports judges, attorneys, law enforcement, and other agencies with case-related information and processing. This position may occasionally support courtroom operations such as jury trials and proceedings.

<br>DEFINITIONUnder general supervision, attends sessions of the Superior Court, performs a variety of Courtroom, Judicial and/or program support duties related to Court hearings and Courtroom proceedings, and performs other related work as assigned. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSThis position is distinguished from the Legal Process Clerk series in that the assigned duties emphasize the Courtroom and Judicial support. The primary focus of the assignment is to independently perform the more difficult and complex clerical and administrative Courtroom legal process work. May be responsible for mentoring and peer to peer training.

<br>Provide specialized clerical support for various functions during Criminal Courtroom proceedingsReceive, examine, review, prepare, process and maintain a variety of Criminal legal documents in the CourtroomVerify, enter, track, and retrieve information from automated and manual record-keeping systems; i.e., recalling of warrants, entering and filing Superior Court Informations, protective orders, consolidation of cases, etcInitiate, update, maintain and process Court calendars and Odyssey case files for Courtroom proceedingsPrepare and process remands and referrals during Court sessionsPrepare correspondence related to legal filings, legal processes, Court procedures, Court calendars, as well as respond to any inquiries regarding specific casesExamine legal documents for correctness of form and format, sufficiency of information and conformance with legal procedures for criminal matters both in and out of the Courtroom settingComplete forms according to reporting regulationsProvide case notifications on all felonies and misdemeanor formal Probation cases to appropriate agencies, including Mental Health, Parole, Probation and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation

</p><p><b>Position Purpose:
</b><br>
This position assists with cases filed with the court clerk's office including criminal, civil, traffic, and other cases from initial filing to final disposition by developing and maintaining case files, assisting with scheduling and assigning hearings, assisting in court room proceedings, and implementing procedures for monetary dispositions; provides customer services daily to a wide variety of individuals and agencies; performs magistrate duties as assigned; and acts on behalf of the court clerk in his or her absence. Duties may include:
</p><ul><li>Maintaining case files for criminal, civil, traffic, and other cases from initial to final disposition in accordance with established procedures and designated timelines.
</li><li>Assisting in maintaining court calendars by scheduling hearings according to procedures.
</li><li>Providing customer service in many different ways to many different people by providing information about the court's protocols and procedures to make sure they receive correct information.
</li><li>Providing assistance in courtrooms by maintaining case files and minutes of proceedings; handling in-court exhibits; empaneling juries; recording proceedings; being responsible for sound and video equipment; and providing court interpretive services when needed to facilitate processes of the court.
</li><li>Performing clerk magistrate duties as assigned to assist the circuit court in disposing of civil actions and to provide direct court contact for average citizens.
</li><li>Performing other work as assigned.
</li></ul><p><b>Minimum Qualifications:
</b><br>
Requires a high school diploma or possession of a GED certificate and one year of general clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Upon hire the successful applicant must meet the following requirements before beginning employment:
