About the Torts Division

Duties and Essential Functions of a Paralegal 3
The Washington State Attorney General&rsquo;s Office (AGO) is seeking a highly skilled Paralegal, with strong litigation experience, exceptional organizational skills, and supervisor experience to join the Torts Division in our Tumwater location. This position plays a critical role in supporting the AGO&rsquo;s mission by performing complex paralegal work in civil tort litigation involving diverse and challenging subject areas. This position provides essential leadership within the Division by supervising, mentoring, and developing legal support staff. In addition to comprehensive paralegal support, this role will serve as a resource for staff, promotes a collaborative and professional work environment, and support strategic improvements in efficiency and service delivery.

About the Worker Rights Unit
The Washington Attorney General&rsquo;s Office seeks a proficient and passionate paralegal to serve as a founding member of our newly established Worker Rights Unit (WRK).
The Unit will focus on high-profile investigations and litigations in industries such as agriculture, the gig economy, construction and domestic service. The Worker Rights Unit will work closely with the Civil Rights Division, the Consumer Protection Division, the Antitrust Division, and the Labor and Industries Divisions of the AG&rsquo;s Office, to enforce Washington laws in state and federal courts. Specifically, the Unit will enforce Washington&rsquo;s nation-leading worker protections, including the minimum wage act, the equal pay and opportunity act, paid family and sick leave, the immigrant worker protection act (if enacted), and others. The team will have particular emphasis on cases involving serious or persistent violations of laws as well as violations impacting low- and moderate-income workers who would otherwise struggle to obtain legal recourse. Some of the types of cases the Unit will bring include challenges to paying immigrants $1 per day for work performed in private detention, abusing temporary farmworker programs, subjecting workers to noncompete agreements, and retaliating against workers for organizing and asserting their rights.

Duties and Essential Functions of a Paralegal 2<ul><li> 
The Paralegal 2 will provide critical support to Assistant Attorneys General in the litigation of state matters, preparing for trial, and applying knowledge of court rules related to legal practice, subject matter, and court filing procedures in civil and appellate matters. Under the direction of an AAG, duties may include, but are not limited to the following:</li><li>

The Senior Corporate Paralegal will be an integral member of the Legal Department and will support the corporate affairs team and the entire Legal Department in corporate governance, entity management, corporate compliance, file maintenance, outside counsel administration, and special projects. As a Senior Corporate Paralegal, this individual will have a direct professional reporting line to the Manager, Corporate Paralegal, in the Company&rsquo;s Legal Department. The Senior Corporate Paralegal will also be expected to assist other members of the Company&rsquo;s Legal Department as may be required from time to time, based on workloads and overall Company priorities.
Summary of Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Lead and coordinate entity management tasks, including for the formation, maintenance, foreign qualification and dissolution of various types of business entities and maintenance of corporate organizational charts.
</li><li>Manage the Legal Department&rsquo;s electronic and physical files, including monitoring and implementing document retention policies, safeguarding and organizing documents and files, maintaining the Legal Department file database, arranging for long-term storage for seldom-used files and coordinating destruction for designated files in accordance with the Company&rsquo;s document retention policy.
</li><li>Coordinate with Legal Department teammates to administer the Company&rsquo;s outside counsel e-billing system.
</li><li>Support Company responses to third-party subpoenas, including liaising with Human Resources team.
