KBR is seeking a Junior Software Engineer that we can mentor and grow to support the development, integration, and evaluation of software solutions for various RF systems in various operational and signal environments. This role supports control, modeling, simulation, and testing of operationally relevant systems across research and applied DoD programs.
This position requires a strong software foundation, interest in RF system fundamentals, and the ability to work across system, algorithm, and integration boundaries with guidance from senior engineers. The software person will work closely with systems engineers, and at times under the direction of systems engineers and hardware teams to implement, test, and analyze position, navigation, and timing (PNT) capabilities in constructive, laboratory and field environments.
Key Responsibilities<ul><li>
Develop, maintain, test, and document software for systems, simulations, and performance analysis environments</li><li>
Implement algorithms and models under guidance, including measurement modeling, error characterization, and estimator behavior under non-ideal conditions</li><li>
Implement and integrate algorithms within software frameworks</li><li>
Integrate software with hardware- and software-in-the-loop (HITL and SITL) and digital twin environments</li><li>
Develop interfaces between software components and external systems</li><li>
Support test planning, execution, and analysis for PNT-focused experiments, demonstrations, and evaluations</li><li>
Collaborate with systems engineers to align system requirements with software designs and implementations</li><li>
Document software implementations, interfaces, and test results to support technical reviews and deliverables</li></ul>
Required Qualifications<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline</li><li>
0&ndash;2 years of professional experience developing software for technical systems (experience can include internships, co-ops, or academic projects)</li><li>
Programming experience in C#/C++ or Python</li><li>
Experience developing software on Linux and Windows based systems</li><li>
Familiarity with PNT concepts (e.g., Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSSs), inertial navigation, timing, sensor fusion)</li><li>
Experience integrating software with complex systems, simulations, or external hardware components</li></ul><ul><li>
