 Case Management, Referrals, Recommendations and Assessment
 
 
 
 Initiate contact with the youth, family, victims, and law enforcement when referrals are received by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (FDJJ). Conduct home and school visits as an integral part of the information gathering process and family involvement model.
 
 
 Obtain and review collateral information such as abuse and neglect history, educational, mental health, substance use, gang related activity and other pertinent information from other agencies involved with the youth and/or family.
 
 
 Conduct and document FDJJ screening(s), to identify the youth&rsquo;s risk and needs, protective factors and/or the need for further evaluations, including but not limited to detention screening, intake screening, Suicide Risk Screening Instrument, and any Department approved risk/needs screening and/or assessment instrument(s).
 
 
 Formulate case management strategies based on assessments and/or information gathered to address the specific needs of the youth and family.
 
 
 Make service referrals to the appropriate provider (s) and follow up actions needing to be taken.
 
 
 Make supervision and treatment recommendations to the State Attorney and other judicial partners that allow the Department to provide the most appropriate services in the least intrusive manner.

 Court Process
 
 
 
 Acts as the DJJ representative during court hearings to support the Department&rsquo;s recommendation for the youth, family, and community.
 
 
 Prepare and maintain current social histories, court reports, referral letters, and related correspondence.
 
 
 Testify at hearings, when appropriate.
 
 
 Prepare affidavits/petition for Violation of Probation for any violation that result in the filing of a delinquency petition.
 
 
 Request hearings when appropriate.
 
 
 
 Case Management, Interventions &amp; Supervision
 
 
 
 Complete a risk and needs assessment using the appropriate Department approved instrument(s) for all youth screened/supervised by the department.
 
 
 Conduct face-to-face contacts in the home, school and varied community-based settings by interacting with the youth, family and community during non-traditional hours (weekends and evening hours) in addition to business hours.
 
 
 Maintain communication based on departmental requirements for all stages of youth and family involvement; gain firsthand knowledge of where the youth resides, the family, the youth&rsquo;s immediate and extended environment by meeting in different locations, including the detention centers, schools, homes, out-of-home placements, place of employment, community sites, other agencies, treatment providers and offices.
 
 
 Assist the youth with obtaining appropriate mental health, substance abuse evaluations based on administered assessments, and arrange for specialized testing and treatment, as needed.
 
 
 Assist youth and family with school and after school enrollment; maintain school contact, verifying school attendance, academic performance, and behavior.
 
 
 Provide crisis intervention; assist the youth and family in accessing crisis intervention services/resources by making necessary referrals and follow-up on actions taken.
 
 
 Work with the youth to establish personal goals/ plans and provide ongoing support to help youth achieve their goals and maintain skills.
 
 
 Discuss with youth and family projected timeframes for completion of goals, sanctions/conditions of supervision and anticipated date for termination of supervision based on progress and as ordered by the court.
 
 
 Respond to concerns, needs, and risks as presented by youth, family, and the community by staffing cases, plans or violations with the unit supervisor in accordance with existing departmental policies, procedures, administrative rules, and FL statutes. Determine recommended handling of law violations and provide appropriate interventions when a youth violates the conditions of supervision based on the Effective Response Matrix and follow up on actions taken in response to a violation.
 
 
 Conduct staffing when benchmarks occur, case milestones are achieved by the youth and or family or case is complex and in need of additional considerations (i.e. when youth is still securely detained a certain number of days pre-adjudication or post disposition, or beyond a timeframe identified in statute, when youth have completed all court ordered requirements and conditions of supervision, or violated supervision, and when transition and exit conferences are scheduled for a set number of days prior to the youth&rsquo;s release from residential commitment, complex cases).
 
 
 Participate in transition and exit planning to finalize plans for the youth pending release from residential programs, which includes referrals for post-residential services to for mental health, substance abuse, education and workforce services.
 
 
 
 Records Management
 
 
 
 Enter into Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS) all case management activities, including risk/needs screening, assessment and case planning activities related to the youth and family during youth&rsquo;s involvement in the juvenile justice continuum.
 
 
 Upload required forms/ documents into the Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS) case file to ensure accurate and timely entries, in accordance with administrative and JJIS business rules.
 
 
 
 Community Collaboration
 
 
 
 Ensure familiarity with community resources and provide input to circuit management on provider community-based service delivery issues and program developments, and provide input on grant related proposals, if requested.

 Juvenile Probation Officers are required to maintain CPR and First Aid Certifications throughout employment.

 Successful candidate must be certified in accordance with State of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice direct care training policy or obtain such certification within 180 days of employment. In order to obtain certification, the candidate must attend and successfully complete a mandatory residential training academy located in Quincy Florida. Such certification must be maintained.
 
 
 For those candidates who are not currently in the state system as a direct care worker for DJJ at the time of application, the top-ranking candidate(s) after the interview phase will be required to take and pass Ergometric's IMPACT Assessment and Training Test in order to be considered for this direct-care employment opportunity. This test will be used to measure the candidate's overall suitability for working with Juvenile Justice involved youth. Test results will be used for a period of six months after initial testing for candidates who reapply during that period for another position for which testing is required.

1.  The Juvenile Supervision Officer II performs work supervising juveniles in department’s secure facilities to ensure their safety and welfare, shift coverage, and transporting juveniles between jails, medical institutions, schools, and other locations.  Performs all essential duties of a Juvenile Supervision Officer I, to include providing direct supervision of detained or referred youth and ensures the youth follow facility rules, taking disciplinary action as necessary. Leads, trains, guides, assesses and assists Juvenile Supervision Officers in housing unit management, resident supervision, and proper actions to be taken in a variety of situations pertaining to secure juvenile facility operations and juvenile behavior management. Administers the 90-day on-the-job training program to newly hired employees. Ensures daily meal count form is completed for all meals and snacks to be served on the assigned shift. Performs exterior perimeter checks of the entire facility, JJAEP, and Juvenile Probation areas to search for contraband, identify escape risks, and maintain safety and order. Issues clothing supervises showers and ensures adequate supplies are maintained for shift operations. Reports physical plant issues to Shift Supervisors and Shift Leaders so that work orders can be prepared and submitted in a timely manner. Maintains physical inventory of all equipment, materials, and supplies for assigned work area in the Juvenile Detention Center and/or Post-Adjudication Secure Correctional Facility. This is the second in a series of four juvenile detention-related job classifications within the Court Services job family. This classification provides direct supervision to clients placed in the juvenile detention facility by the court system. Duties performed are of a routine to moderately complex nature and type and may initially perform duties in training together with a higher-level staff member. This classification may require work in secure facilities. This classification may require a flexible work schedule in order to meet the needs of the department. 
 
Juvenile Detention Officer II: 
This is the third in a series of four juvenile detention-related job classifications within the Court Services job family. This classification provides direct supervision to clients placed in the juvenile detention facility by the court system. Duties performed are of more complex nature and type. 
This classification may require work in secure facilities. This classification may require a flexible work schedule in order to meet the needs of the department. 
 
Juvenile Detention Officer III: 
This is the fourth in a series of four juvenile detention-related job classifications within the Court Services job family. This classification provides direct supervision to clients placed in the juvenile detention facility by the court system. Duties performed are of the most complex nature and type. This classification typically functions as a working lead over the activities of other juvenile detention positions in addition to the normal range of duties. This classification may require work in secure facilities. This classification may require a flexible work schedule in order to meet the needs of the department.</div> 
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Duties and Responsibilities</h2></div>
<div><ul><li>Provides direct supervision of all client daily activities. Maintains accountability of all clients and equipment and ensures that the environment is safe, clean and secure.</li><li>
Ensures that clients are aware of and understand their responsibilities and appropriate behavior.</li><li>
Conducts inspections, rounds and drills which includes room searches, pat searches, fire drills and emergency response readiness training.</li><li>
Transports youths to and from appointments as needed.</li><li>
Coordinates and provides daily educational and entertainment programs and activities.</li><li>
Conducts cognitive skill groups and teamwork activities. Models competency in direct care principles for less experienced staff.</li><li>
Documents clients&rsquo; behavior and enters into department computer information system.</li><li>
Assists in training other juvenile supervision officers.</li><li>
Provides individual and crisis intervention counseling as required.</li><li>
Ensures environment is safe and clean. Maintains order and discipline.</li><li>

Juvenile Detention Officer I: Starting at $24.23 hourly 
High School Diploma or equivalent AND one (1) year experience working in the Human and Social Services field (i.e., Corrections, Security, Mental Health, Counseling, Teaching, or other related social service professions.) 
OR 
any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job 
 
Juvenile Detention Officer II: Starting at $24.95 hourly 
Associate&rsquo;s degree in Human Services or a directly related field or two (2) years of college education in Human Services or a directly related field AND two (2) years&rsquo; experience in direct client care, counseling, law enforcement, corrections or related field; 
OR, 
Any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job. 
 
Juvenile Detention Officer III: Starting at $25.82 hourly 
Associate&rsquo;s degree in Human Services or a directly related field or two (2) years of college education in Human Services or a related field AND three (3) years&rsquo; experience in direct client care, counseling, law enforcement, corrections or related field; 
OR, 
Any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.</div> 
Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements:<div>
Must be at least 21 years of age</div><div>
Must not have a disqualifying criminal history as defined by Texas Administrative Code Chapter 344. Certification as a Juvenile Detention Officer or eligible for certification within six (6) months of date of hire, Successful completion of Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification, First Aid and</div><div>
Handle with Care (state approved physical restraint techniques). Valid Texas Driver&rsquo;s License.</div><div></div><div>

<div>The Kent County 17th Circuit Court is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Juvenile Success Coordinator to support youth in our diversion and community probation programs. This full-time role is assigned to the Girls Court Program and will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide program services to justice-involved youth.
The Ideal candidate is one who believes in second chances, enjoys mentoring at-risk youth, and thrives on building positive connections with families, schools, and community partners.
Juvenile Success Coordinators provide hands-on support and supervision for youth who are on community probation. Juvenile Success Coordinators monitor their progress at home, school, and work; encourage compliance with program goals, court orders, and case plans; and help them access resources that promote accountability and personal growth. Every day brings new opportunities to make a meaningful impact on young lives&mdash;whether meeting with a family, coordinating with service providers, or conducting a home visit.
What You&rsquo;ll Do<ul><li>
Guide juveniles and families through the expectations of diversion and community probation programs.</li><li>
Develop and implement individualized case plans that outline goals, supports, and accountability measures.</li><li>
Monitor school attendance, employment, curfew, community service, and participation in treatment or other required programs.</li><li>
Conduct home, school, and community visits to assess progress and provide ongoing support.</li><li>
Testify in court hearings, as necessary.</li><li>
Recommend and apply incentives or sanctions in collaboration with court staff.</li><li>
Maintain accurate, detailed records of all contacts and progress updates.</li><li>
Provide transportation support for programming and community outings.</li></ul>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Minimum Qualifications</h2></div>
<div>Associate&rsquo;s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field, combined with a minimum of six months of experience in intervention services for at-risk juveniles. A valid, unrestricted Michigan driver's license and access to reliable transportation in the performance of job duties are required. 
 
Must have knowledge of case work principles using criminal justice and/or social work and counseling practices and techniques. Having the ability to earn the respect of juvenile offenders and their families, as well as to interact positively with clients from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, is essential.
** Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related, and willingness to obtain a chauffeur's license is highly desired.</div>
