<div>Job Summary
The Deputy Prosecutor III provides professional legal services, which include prosecuting felony, misdemeanor, and/or juvenile cases, making charging decisions, negotiating case settlements, and assisting the County Prosecutor with other legal and administrative work necessary to achieve the objectives of the office. Assignments may be made to prosecute specific types of cases such as major crimes, complex litigation, serious felony, and civil cases. The position provides general direction to assigned legal and other assistant support positions but is not a supervisory position. While the work is performed under the general supervision and authority of the County Prosecutor, there the position is expected to exercise independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to manage the assigned caseload. 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Deputy Prosecutor III assumes daily responsibility and performs tasks in the following areas: 
<ul><li>
Investigates, prepares, and manages felony, misdemeanor, and/or juvenile cases for trial, including but not limited to: reviewing charges and evidence, conducting legal research, interviewing affected parties, preparing required legal and court documents, preparing, and arguing briefs, and attending court proceedings,</li><li>
May be assigned specific types of cases such as major crimes, complex litigation, serious felony, and civil cases, or other complex specializations,</li><li>
Makes charging decisions following review and evaluation of police reports and other evidence and in consideration of applicable law,</li><li>
Negotiates case settlements with opposing counsel,</li><li>
Advises and consults with police officers, detectives, attorneys, defendants, victims, witnesses, and other interested and affected parties,</li><li>
Represents the County's interest in court,
</li><li>Answers communications from the public relative to legal matters affecting the County,</li></ul> 
Other Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>
May be assigned on call after regular hours to respond to emergency situations, or other duties as assigned or necessary to aid the department in the completion of its objectives.

Minimum Education, Experience and Training</h1><ul><li>
Graduation from a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association with a Juris Doctorate Degree (JD),
</li><li>Admission to the Idaho State Bar with an active license to practice law in the State of Idaho,
</li><li>Meet any annual licensing requirements and maintain a membership in good standing in the Idaho State Bar Association, and</li><li>
Three (3) years of career experience and three (3) years of Bannock County prosecuting experience, or equivalent combination of experience.</li></ul>

Processing request for Criminal History from Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) which requires special training and security credentials while maintaining confidentiality. Misuse of security requirements could result in misdemeanor criminal penalties.20. Perform support tasks related to the civil matters (i.e., Planning and Zoning Department matters) handled by the office, including preparing and filing complaints, summons and orders to show cause. Arranging proper service of documents and maintains case files.21. Perform a variety of support tasks such as preparing legal documents, copying, faxing, and filing. Processing daily office correspondence (i.e. incoming and outgoing mail).22. Maintain closed files section of Prosecutor's Office which includes the vault and storage rooms. This position offers the opportunity to appear in court on a regular basis on a wide variety of criminal matters. Additionally, over time there is potential for advancement to the position of Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Under the direction of the Prosecuting Attorney, reviews investigations presented by law enforcement to determine appropriate charges, if any, and files complaints for warrant authorization. As an assistant prosecutor you will present criminal cases in the District and Circuit Court, as well as handle matters in the Juvenile Court. The position may also require appearances on Probate Court matters. Prosecutors are responsible for preparing and responding to criminal pleadings, conducting preliminary, evidentiary and mental health hearings. You will represent the People of the State of Michigan in pretrial matters, pleas, trials, sentencing and some appeals. Trial preparation and plea negotiations will require consultation with the victims of crimes, witnesses to the charged offenses, and members of law enforcement. This list is not inclusive of the total scope of the job functions to be performed. Duties may be added, deleted, or modified at any time by the Prosecuting Attorney.

Minimum Qualifications:

Law degree from an accredited law school, some criminal law and litigation experience preferred but not required, licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Michigan.

Victim Witness Advocate - District Attorney
 Hourly Pay Rate $22.33 to $33.51

Job Summary: Provide comprehensive services as mandated by the Wisconsin Constitution and Chapter 950 of the Wisconsin Statutes to crime victims and witnesses. The Victim Witness Advocates (VW) are required to work on-site 100% of assigned workday due to the nature of the position. Face to face interactions is needed to meet the demands of engaging victims and witnesses in the criminal justice process.
 
Job Duties: 
<ul>
<li>Provide services to crime victims/witnesses. Management of criminal juvenile court caseload, ensuring all victims/ witnesses are treated properly during course of case prosecution. Orientate clients to their rights, the criminal justice system, and referral resources.</li>
<li>Interpret to witnesses the importance of participation. Reassure and persuade reluctant witnesses to cooperate with prosecution. Identify and reduce barriers for cooperation. Refer witnesses when appropriate to Witness Protection Program to ensure their safety.</li>
<li>Maintain on-going contact with witnesses to inform them of case status, provide supportive counseling to alleviate trauma of victimization and assess the need for information and referral to other community resources.</li>
<li>Prepare victims/witnesses to testify in criminal/juvenile court hearings; provide escort and accompaniment to court; arrange and or provide transportation; place victims/witnesses on call or notify of last-minute changes to reduce the number of unnecessary appearances.</li>
<li>Orient victims to the Crime Victim Compensation Program and assist with completing applications and gathering required information. Assist with VINE registration, which allows the Dept. of Corrections to notify victim/witness upon release or escape of a defendant.</li>
<li>Inform prosecutor of concerns or problems raised by victims/witnesses. Communicate victims wishes concerning the prosecution, outcomes, and plea/sentencing negotiations. Gather documentary evidence relative to restitution and notify court. Assist with crime impact statements</li>
<li>Coordinate property recovery for victims when property is no longer needed for evidence. Assist witnesses in applying for fees and authorized expense reimbursement. Intervene with schools, employment, and insurance companies on victim’s behalf. Obtain civil protection orders.</li>
<li>Coordinate travel arrangements and lodging; prepare affidavits and court orders for court approval; organize with prosecutor the order and appearance of witnesses in court; schedule appearances of expert witnesses; and obtain authorization for release of medical records.</li>
<li>Coordinate subpoena service and recalls with clerks and process servers. Update victims/witnesses’ information to remain current. Use search engines and other methods as necessary. Enter notes and case information in PROTECT for each victim/witness as case is worked.</li>
<li>Mentor and train students, interns, and volunteers. Conduct community presentations and attend job fairs and other crime victim events. Assist volunteers in staffing the victim/witness waiting rooms.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>Current resident of the United States</li>
<li>Valid Wi Driver’s license and insurance both maintained throughout employment.</li>
<li>Bachelor or higher degree required in Criminal Justice or Human Services</li>
<li>At least (1) one year of experience providing counseling or services to crime victims/clients</li>
<li>Knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets (Microsoft Word and Excel)</li>
</ul>
Required Skills and Abilities: 
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of special needs and problems of crime victims/witnesses and sensitivity to individuals with special needs, children, and older adults.</li>
<li>Ability to collaborate and maintain relationships with community agencies, service providers, and law enforcement.</li>
<li>Knowledge of the application of social work theories, practices, and techniques required.</li>
<li>Knowledge of the criminal and juvenile justice systems and Wisconsin Statutes Ch: 950 and 48</li>
<li>Knowledge of community resources for crime victims and witnesses. Proficient in Microsoft Word.</li>
</ul>
