About the role and team: 

A hands-on Lead engineer embedded in the client's platform team, responsible for the reliability, scalability, and evolution of their Kubernetes-based infrastructure on AWS. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering and DevOps, owning the day-to-day health of containerised workloads while driving improvements to delivery pipelines, GitOps practices, and managed service configuration. The right candidate is comfortable working autonomously in a mature, opinionated stack and can influence without authority across engineering teams. This role combines deep hands-on expertise with team leadership, stakeholder engagement, and delivery planning. The right candidate can operate credibly at an engineering level while also communicating clearly with business and technical stakeholders, translating platform priorities into a coherent roadmap and ensuring the team has the clarity and support needed to deliver effectively.

What you'll be doing:

What you bring:

You will build and evolve a shared frontend platform and reusable UI patterns, focusing on performance, accessibility, and developer experience. You will help deliver AI-enabled user experiences and accelerate engineering velocity by responsibly using modern AI developer tools. This is a pure frontend position with a strong AI focus: you will help deliver AI-enabled user experiences and raise engineering velocity by using modern AI developer tools responsibly (e.g., AI-assisted coding, debugging, and test generation), while maintaining a high bar for correctness, security, and quality.
Job Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions for technical challenges.</li><li>
Write secure, high-quality production code and maintain UI logic that integrates with shared platforms.</li><li>
Develop and maintain reusable React components and UI patterns for complex workflows.</li><li>
Build high-performance, data-intensive user interfaces using profiling and optimization techniques.</li><li>
Engineer accessible, inclusive experiences by partnering with UX and design teams.</li><li>
Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) to ensure reliability and quality.</li><li>
Collaborate with UX designers, product stakeholders, and developers to build custom UI components; develop tools and automated processes to streamline development and enhance developer experience.</li><li>
Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.</li><li>
Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.</li><li>
Build Generative AI interface solutions using React and TypeScript, following CI/CD standards.</li><li>
Actively use AI development tools for code generation, refactoring, debugging, documentation, and testing; work closely with Product, UX, and cross-functional partners to deliver capabilities in agile sprints.</li></ul>
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:<ul><li>
Formal training or certification in software engineering.</li><li>
Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, TypeScript, and state management.</li><li>
Experience optimizing and debugging performance and memory issues in web applications.</li><li>
Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.</li><li>
Familiarity with agile methodologies, production readiness, and security-aware development.</li><li>
Experience maintaining production UI code in large development teams.</li><li>
Understanding of user experience principles and customer-oriented development.</li><li>
Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.</li><li>
Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.</li><li>
Testing experience with component/unit and end-to-end tools (e.g., React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright).</li><li>
Experience building or integrating Generative AI features in frontend products.</li></ul>
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:<ul><li>
Exposure to cloud technologies and modern web delivery.</li><li>
Experience with shared UI platforms or component libraries.</li><li>
Strong accessibility engineering, including WCAG compliance and remediation.</li><li>
Understanding of software best practices, development lifecycle, and Agile tools.</li></ul>
