In this role, you will collaborate with senior technical talent and leaders across Apple to build and deploy forward-looking Compute platforms that support Apple products and services.<br>

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead &amp; grow engineering and research initiatives to help build Apple Cloud Compute. You will lead highly performant teams that will research, align, architect, drive, and build solutions to support Apple Cloud Engineering efforts with a specific focus around Kubernetes backed compute offerings.<br>

<b>Description</b><br>
<br>
You will oversee all aspects of our cloud compute services, including infrastructure, software, and operations (in close collaboration with our SRE partners), with a specific emphasis on optimizing Virtual Machines, Kubernetes, Containers, and Batch Workloads.<br>

Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a successful team of engineers, architects, and specialists. Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within your organization.<br>

Technical Oversight: Provide technical expertise and guidance on cloud computing architectures, systems design and performance optimization. Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of these platforms.<br>
<br>
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including SRE, product management, program management and customer support, to deliver exceptional customer experiences and deliver optimized solutions.<br>
<br>
Project Management: Manage complex projects, including major initiatives and product launches, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.<br>
<br>
Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in cloud computing. Protect our intellectual property and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.<br>
<br>
<b>Preferred Qualifications</b><br>
<br>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent<br>
<br>
Experience operating large-scale multi-tenant infrastructure as a managed service<br>
<br>
Knowledge of algorithms and distributed system architectures. Familiarity with workload scheduling<br>
<br>
Strong systems programming skills and knowledge of operating system fundamentals.<br>
<br>
<b>Minimum Qualifications</b><br>
<br>
10+ years of overall industry experience with 5+ years building &amp; leading high-performing research &amp; engineering teams with a focus on on cloud computing<br>
<br>
Deep experience working on Containers and Kubernetes internals required<br>
<br>
Experience working across one or more platforms focused on Virtualization or Batch technologies, preferred<br>
<br>
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS (EC2, ECS, EKS, AWS Batch), Azure (Virtual Machines, AKS, and Azure Batch), or Google Cloud (GCE, GKE and Cloud Batch) is highly desirable.<br>
<br>
Familiarity with all aspects of software development from architecture to deployment and maintenance<br>
<br>
Understanding of cloud computing architectures, systems design and performance optimization.<br>
<br>
Strong understanding of concurrency, parallelism, and distributed systems concepts<br>
<br>
Fluency in Go (Golang), Python, Swift, Java or similar languages in a systems context<br>
<br>
Excellent written and oral communication skills<br>

<b>Pay &amp; Benefits</b><br>
<br>
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $201,300 and $302,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.<br>
<br>
