Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):</i></b></div><ul><li>
Perform Electrocardiograms (EKGs) to measure the electrical activity of the heart, monitor the heart's rhythm, and detect abnormalities such as arrhythmias</li><li>
Work with cardiologists to assist in cardiac catheterizations for interventional procedures, to examine the heart and possibly treat blockages</li><li>
Assist with angioplasty and stenting, minimally invasive procedures designed to open blocked arteries and aid physicians in placing stents to keep these arteries open</li><li>
May assist in the setup and monitoring of pacemakers and defibrillator implantations, devices that help regulate the heart's rhythm</li><li>
Prepare patients for cardiovascular tests and procedures, including positioning, explaining the procedure, and ensuring patient comfort</li><li>
During tests and interventional procedures, monitor the patient&rsquo;s vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, etc.) and report any issues to the supervising physician</li></ul>

General Statement of Duties:</p><p>
The Cardiac Cath Lab Invasive Specialist- Certified plays multiple roles on the Cardiac Cath Lab team as the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist during Cardiac Catheterization procedures. In both roles he/she demonstrates technical proficiency in all Cardiac Cath Lab procedures and equipment; applies anatomical and physiological knowledge to proficiently assist the Cardiologist or Electrophysiologist with providing cardiac patient care. As the Invasive Specialist he/she maintains good communication with the Cath Lab team to ensure proper equipment set up, accurate monitoring, and quality data collection.</p><p>
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:</p><p>
1. Education and Experience: High School graduate or GED</p><p>
2. New hires as of 6/1/2013 have to have ONE of the following:</p><p></p><ul><li>
One (1) year fulltime Invasive Cardiovascular Technology experience.</li><li>
An Associate Degree or equivalent college hours (62 semester hours) in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering or any primary science or higher.</li><li>
Graduate of an accredited (by CHEA, USDOE, or CMA) program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology.</li><li>
Graduate of a NON-Programmatically accredited program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology which has a minimum of one (1) year of specialty training and includes a minimum of 800 clinical hours.</li></ul><p></p><p>
3. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable). Includes specific competency in:</p><p></p><ul><li>

Essential Job Functions:</p><p>
1. Demonstrates technical proficiency for all cardiac catheterization procedures while functioning in a primary role as a Cardiac Cath Lab Invasive Specialist.</p><p>
2. Consistently and correctly identifies cardiac structures, coronary vasculature, and the associated disease processes.</p><p>
3. Practices radiation safety and observes all principles to ALARA. This includes a good knowledge of all regulations and requirements set forth by the Texas Bureau of Radiation Control and the Methodist Radiation Safety Committee and the proper use and storage of personal radiation badge.</p><p>
4. Assists the physician in obtaining or entering data into the Physiologic Monitoring System(s) for accurate assessment of left and/or right-sided Hemodynamic pressure measurements. Assures accurate information is gathered or entered for the calculation of intra-cardiac shunts, valve areas, and pressure measurements throughout the catheter path.</p><p>
5. Accurately reports Ejection Fraction by demonstrating proficiency in the assessment of Cardiac function, utilizing Left Ventricular Analysis program(s). Understands the disease processes that result in depressed Cardiac function such as: Coronary Artery Disease, Cardiomyopathy, Myocardial Infarction, Valvular disorders, etc.</p><p>
6. Consistently assures that Angiographic and procedural data is properly archived for long-term storage. Verifies the presence of all components of procedure information in both hard copy and computerized formats.</p><p>
Additional Job Functions:</p><p>
1. May have access to contrast agents and other non-controlled medications as appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.</p><p>
2. Takes &ldquo;Call&rdquo; on a rotating basis.</p><p>

4. <p>Medical Lab Technician (MLT) Details:</p><br>

Essential Job Duties:<br>
<ul><li>Perform and report laboratory tests: Perform and report results of waived and moderate complexity laboratory tests using automated, semi-automated, and manual test systems and kits.</li><li>Prepare and transport specimens: Prepare specimens for in-house testing and for referral to reference laboratories. This includes verification of specimen ID and labeling, centrifugation, pour off, storage, routing to other clinic laboratory locations, and packaging and shipping for transport to reference laboratories.</li><li>Maintain quality control and assurance: Perform and maintain records of quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) according to established Laboratory policy and procedures.</li><li>Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies: Prepare and calibrate instruments and equipment to assure accuracy of tests. Clean and performs periodic maintenance on instruments and equipment according to manufacturer's guidelines and laboratory policies. Assist Manager in maintaining an adequate volume of supplies on-hand and available to ensure uninterrupted collection and testing of patient specimens.</li><li>Provide patient care and support: Collect patient blood specimens and other specimen types. Use the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to enter and record patient demographics, specimen collection and receipt, process specimens, order tests, print labels and forms. perform testing, enter results, generate reports and transmit results as indicated or directed.</li></ul></div>
<div>Qualifications:<br>
<ul><li>Bachelor's or Associate degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; or High School graduate or equivalent and have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (laboratory technician)</li><li>ASCP, AMT, or NCA certification or eligibility preferred. Must meet CLIA 1988 requirements for testing personnel performing moderately complex testing.</li></ul>
