Job Description</b></p><p>
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II (MLS II) role, under general supervision, performs analyses on a variety of sample types. Maintains proper records and utilizes independent judgement to generate acceptable test results. Responsible for quality, efficiency and safety in the performance of laboratory functions. Serves as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team.</p><ul><li>
Performs routine and specialized laboratory testing in their assigned specialty area following all standard operating procedures.</li><li>
Correlates laboratory findings with disease states; integrates and relates data from other laboratory specialty areas; confirms abnormal results and resolves specimen and testing discrepancies. Institutes appropriate follow-up measures for unusual test results.</li><li>
Calibrates instruments; performs and documents preventative and corrective maintenance on instruments and equipment</li><li>
Troubleshoots most routine technical and analytical problems including specimen collection problems within minimal supervision.</li><li>
Monitors and reviews quality control data and quality assurance information to determine reliability and acceptability of patient results. Assists in documentation of quality occurrences. Initiates corrective actions for quality control and other quality and/or service problems.</li><li>
Performs duties and documents information in compliance with a variety of regulatory and accreditation standards. Performs testing on proficiency testing samples as required.</li><li>
Assures tests are completed in a timely manner per turnaround time expectations of the Department and that all pending test reports are reconciled in a timely manner.</li><li>
Provides orientation and training to new employees in the assigned laboratory sections. Attends continuing education sessions as required.</li><li>
Assists in reviewing standard operating procedures as requested.</li><li>
Maintains a neat and organized bench area replenishing supplies as needed.</li><li>
May serve as charge technologist on assigned shifts; in this capacity, troubleshoots laboratory operations problems and initiates corrective actions.</li></ul><br>
<b>
Work Experience<br>
</b><br>
<p><b>Education:</b> <b>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Medical Technology</b>, biology or related sciences preferred; an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field or completion of Military Laboratory Technician program with experience required.</p><p><b>
Experience:</b> Three years of clinical laboratory experience required.</p><p><b>
Licensure/Certifications:</b> ASCP or equivalent preferred.</p></div>

Position Overview:</b></div>

The Packaging Laboratory Scientist I is responsible for developing and/or executing laboratory science projects, managing &amp; executing internal and external laboratory testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and creating and implementing new test methodologies. This role supports new products, cost savings projects and manufacturing/supply chain improvements, and works cross-functionally to add value to the initiatives. You&rsquo;ll work with a diverse array of packaging formats and materials used for our leading brands including McCormick, Old Bay, Lawry&rsquo;s, Grill Mates, French&rsquo;s, Cholula, Frank&rsquo;s, and Gourmet Garden.</div><br>

Key Responsibilities:</b></div>

<li>Development and/or execution of laboratory science projects.</li>
<li>Execution of laboratory testing of packages, packaging components, or packaging materials internally and through external partners, to validate or predict performance, durability, function &amp; reliability.</li>
<li>Laboratory operations support to include implementation of safety practices, creation &amp; maintenance of test procedures and SOPs, and equipment calibration &amp; maintenance.</li>
<li>Manage multiple work assignments concurrently with accountability for deliverables and milestones.</li>
<li>Plan and prioritize work to ensure deadlines and expectations are met and be highly self-directed.</li>
<li>Interact across all levels of the organization, work cross-functionally, and participate in project activities.</li>
<li>Apply established standards, controls, and processes.</li></ul><br>

Required Qualifications:</b></div>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Package Engineering, Packaging Technology, or a technically relevant discipline.</li>
<li>1-3 years of experience in technical areas of laboratory testing, laboratory projects and laboratory operations, preferably in the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.</li>
<li>Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.</li>
<li>Creative problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and highly organized.</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to be a team player.</li></ul><br>

Preferred Qualifications:</b></div>

<li>Food industry and manufacturing environment experience.</li>

Base Salary: $63,250 to $110,680</p>

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed or have a provisional license, by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.<br>
