Position Overview:</b></div>

The Packaging Laboratory Scientist I is responsible for developing and/or executing laboratory science projects, managing &amp; executing internal and external laboratory testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and creating and implementing new test methodologies. This role supports new products, cost savings projects and manufacturing/supply chain improvements, and works cross-functionally to add value to the initiatives. You&rsquo;ll work with a diverse array of packaging formats and materials used for our leading brands including McCormick, Old Bay, Lawry&rsquo;s, Grill Mates, French&rsquo;s, Cholula, Frank&rsquo;s, and Gourmet Garden.</div><br>

Key Responsibilities:</b></div>
<ul>
<li>Development and/or execution of laboratory science projects.</li>
<li>Execution of laboratory testing of packages, packaging components, or packaging materials internally and through external partners, to validate or predict performance, durability, function &amp; reliability.</li>
<li>Laboratory operations support to include implementation of safety practices, creation &amp; maintenance of test procedures and SOPs, and equipment calibration &amp; maintenance.</li>
<li>Manage multiple work assignments concurrently with accountability for deliverables and milestones.</li>
<li>Plan and prioritize work to ensure deadlines and expectations are met and be highly self-directed.</li>
<li>Interact across all levels of the organization, work cross-functionally, and participate in project activities.</li>
<li>Apply established standards, controls, and processes.</li></ul><br>

Required Qualifications:</b></div>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Package Engineering, Packaging Technology, or a technically relevant discipline.</li>
<li>1-3 years of experience in technical areas of laboratory testing, laboratory projects and laboratory operations, preferably in the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.</li>
<li>Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.</li>
<li>Creative problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and highly organized.</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to be a team player.</li></ul><br>

Preferred Qualifications:</b></div>
<ul>
<li>Food industry and manufacturing environment experience.</li>
<li>Experience with advanced laboratory analysis equipment, automated metrology systems, robotics, and artificial intelligence.</li>
<li>Experience with SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint software.</li></ul><br>

Base Salary: $63,250 to $110,680</p>
<p>
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick&rsquo;s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan. <div><p>The Clinical Laboratory Scientist Generalist is accountable to the Administrative Director of the laboratory or a laboratory supervisor. The CLS-G will work cooperatively in conjunction with the Laboratory Director, Lab Supervisors, Pathologists and fellow employees in order to assure high quality laboratory services for all age groups from infants to geriatric.</p></div>

<div><ul><li>Performs all high complexity procedures in all areas of the clinical laboratory that require the exercise of independent judgement and con assist in the blood bank

Proficiently performs a variety of laboratory tests and procedures following established policies, procedures and requirements of accrediting and regulating agencies in assigned work section(s) which may include any or all of the following Laboratory disciplines: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Full Microbiology, Microbiology specimen preparation, Serology, and Urinalysis.
</p><p>2. Plans, organizes, and prioritizes work to accomplish maximum quantity and quality of work assignments
</p><div><ul><li>Monitors testing analyzers for optimum performance. Performs preventive maintenance and troubleshoots problems as needed.
</li></ul></div><p>4. Performs and evaluates quality control and record results. Troubleshoots quality control problems as needed.
</p><p>5. Records and reports test results. Maintains all required records, reports and statistical logs and files. Identify, verify and report &ldquo;critical results&rdquo; per established Laboratory/hospital policy.
</p><p>6. Reports any unusual laboratory findings or problems using established departmental and organizational quality and safety avenues, and escalates appropriately to Supervisor, Clinical Manager, Laboratory Director or Pathologist.
</p><p>7. Monitors and maintains adequate supplies and reagents associated with assigned duties.
</p><p>8. Maintains appropriate working knowledge of hospital/department computer software and other digital systems, including computer downtime operations.
</p><p>9. Attends and participates in meetings (administrative, departmental, section, in-service, etc.) as necessary. Represents the department at conferences and working committees, as directed. Provides input to Section Supervisor for staff meeting agenda items.
