 Landscape and Garden Center Intern
 
 will interact with customers seeking guidance for small Do-it-Yourself (DIY) projects. After a brief discovery, you will create a handwritten sketch that the customer can use as a shopping list and general planting guide. If the customer needs are greater, you will have the opportunity to work on the full-scale landscaping proposal with a partner landscape designer. The position will provide experience with retail service using plant knowledge and design skill. Additionally, you will discover the complete sales process on projects in Landscaping, from the beginning of a sale to the end of installation. You&rsquo;ll work with experienced landscape designers, subcontractors, and install crews from Bachman&rsquo;s. Your environment and daily tasks will continually vary, ranging from providing customer assistance and making recommendations in a retail setting to design drawing and making sales calls with landscape designers. <div>Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks is offering an internship position to assist the Planning and Design Group with graphic design, planning and design of park resources.
The intern will work under the direction of Licensed Landscape Architects and will be involved in site planning, landscape design, development of presentation graphics and production of contract documents.</div>

<div>Performs graphic design and planning related functions. Graphically lays out interpretive and educational signs.

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Qualifications</h2></div>
<div>Education/Experience: Students currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree or recent graduates within two quarters/semesters preferably in related field of graphic design, geographic information systems, computer aided drafting and design, Landscape Architecture or a related field with experience in graphic design, digital mapping software, GIS applications, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in Adobe Suite required. Experience with Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) required.
Desired qualifications include: Knowledge of AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Adobe, Creative Suite, Sketchup. Graphic Design skills. Excellent computer skills and experience with Adobe Suite, ESRI's GIS software package (ArcGIS for Desktop and extensions, ArcGIS for Server), and global positioning systems preferred. Ability to produce professional grade graphics preferred.
Team-Oriented: Works on a team. Outstanding customer service, communications and interpersonal skills.
Attendance: Being present at work is an essential function of the position.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to deal with symbols in formulas, equations or graphs; ability to prepare meaningful, concise, and accurate reports; ability to calculate fractions, decimals, percentages; ability to recognize errors and make corrections. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Licenses, Registrations: Possession of a valid state issued drivers license, insurable by the Metro Park's insurance carrier, and ability to conform to the driving standards policy.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods of time, stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to gather data, survey, prepare drawings, sketches, and models and use instruments utilized in such preparation. Employee is required to use computer, calculator, prepare reports, file paperwork, etc.
Work Environment: While performing the regular duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment and in the field. The employee is frequently required to travel to parks throughout the District.
